My first experience of swimming
My first swimming experience was when I was almost 11 years old. My friends and I are
planning to go to the river. With all my friends I went there and we had planned the day before.
When I got there, I found out that there were already a lot of people there before us, not just
children there.
Swimming for me is like an extraordinary and cool thing, I have always wanted to be
able to swim for a long time and can't even explain that I am very passionate when it comes to
rivers. I suffocated in the water. I once wanted to learn to swim but always ended up drowning.
I don't even miss going to the river when my friends encourage me to do it! Everyone always
tells me that learn to swim, it will help you when you grow up and you may also need it in
difficult situations and I agree with them. Because we were quite close to the river, many of my
peers could already swim, I stood by and watched them having fun. Suddenly, someone pushed
me from behind and I fell into the pool completely drenched. I don't understand what
happened to me.
I screamed in fear, please help me. I struggled with my hands and feet into the water
around me. Water got into my mouth and nostrils, I couldn't breathe for a while. The worst
thing was that at that time the swimming coach was not present, one of my friends saw me
struggling in the water, took my hand and brought me up. He told me to row my hands and feet
continuously into the water. Watching other people, I also started to do the same, he held my
hands in front and told me to row my legs behind me. I gripped his hand tightly because I was
already afraid of drowning. I followed his instructions and after some time, I felt that I could
swim smoothly without any assistance.
I told him to let me try myself once, I tried but then out of nervousness, I was all
underwater again. But then I myself tried to get out of it, I paddled my feet apart with my arms
forward and I was out. I'm so glad that I tried and I can say that I can swim now!
This was indeed an unforgettable experience for me despite me but I was finally happy
when my friend taught me how to swim and I gave it a try. Then, overcoming my fear, I started
going to the river almost every week with my friend and yes, I have learned to swim perfectly
now.
