NEUROMA

A painful nerve growth. It occurs when bones of the feet press together causing irritation.
SYMPTOMS
1. Sharp dull burning sensation in ball of foot
2. Tingling or numbness between toes
3. A feeling that you have a stone in your shoe or sock that is wrinkled
4. Stress fractures need to be rule out by X-ray.
TREATMENTS
1. Shoe changes
2. Inserts with metatarsal pads
3. Physical medicine
4. Injections—Alcohol 4 %
5. Surgery for removal. Most symptoms are resolved without surgery
6. IF left untreated, neuromas often get worse.
