1.What is open pit mining?

Open-pit mining is one of the several mining methods used

to collect minerals and rocks from the layers of the ground.
This method, which makes use of an open pit, is most
usually applied when the required rocks or minerals are
found around the earth's surface.
Those vertical layers of an open pit mine are arranged into
steps, often known as "benches," that form the structure of
the pit. The size of these steps, which can vary from four to
sixty meters, is mostly controlled by the mining company's
equipment. The flat area of the pit is referred to as the
dunes or the bench, while the walls of the pit are referred
to as the batter.

1.What is open pit mining?

In excavating open-pit walls, care is usually taken to reduce

the risk of rock falls or landslides during adverse weather, such
as heavy rain. To secure the area for workers, however,
supports like rock bolts or precast may also be installed. A lot
of open-pit mines also need to have water relief mechanisms
in place. Bore holes may occasionally be bored into the wall,
which can also result in wall failures. Also, there is nothing left
to bring out of the enormous, massive hole that is created by
removing successive layers of land. When miners needed to
take massive chunks of material from the soil, they used
explosives. When the mining business is done with it, the pit is
often turned into a landfill. To dispose of our waste, a landfill is
utilized. It is coated in several layers of dirt once it is full of
trash.

2. How do you relate the open pit mining issue to Heidegger's
concept on modern technology as challenging forth.

Modern Technologies are rapidly evolving to cater the never

ending needs of humanity. According to Heidegger, revealing
modern technology can be seen as challenging forth. This
challenge is a setting upon nature. Therefore mining is
considered a challenge. On the video, it shows the damage in
ecological land bought by open pit mining. This degrades
natural resources such as mountains and trees to generate
building materials. The mining case in Nueva Vizcaya
emphasized that space is not restricted. The minerals extracted
cause disturbance to the surface and produce large amounts
of waste rock. The way it generates environmental implications
such as noise and dust within the area poses threat to nature
and endangers people's lives.

2. How do you relate the open pit mining issue to Heidegger's
concept on modern technology as challenging forth.

For Heidegger, modern technology reveals as challenging

forth that are confronted through extraction in order to use it.
Similarly to the issue of open pit mining in Nueva Vizcaya, the
society are seduced by the power of technology to utilize
nature as a source of human interest. Nature, seen as a
standing-reserve, turned into disposable resources and is no
longer sustained. Open pit mining denotes challenging forth,
as it possesses provocation to achieve societies' ambition
greedily without considering how it affect and endanger
human lives.

3. Why did you say that nature was enframed by the
mining companies based on Heidegger's notion of modern
technology as enframing?

Heidegger's idea of contemporary technology as framing

implies that it used scientific knowledge to confine nature.
This implies that nature is ordered by humans, who also have
the ability to manipulate it. Based on this idea, I can assert that
mining enterprises framed nature via calculative thinking that
prioritizes economic perfection and stability in order to
increase their standard of living. In that regard, people exert
control over nature for their own interest only without
thinking the damage or consequences that could happen.
However, the damage it is doing to our ecosystem over time
cannot be truly denied.

4. Do you think mountains and forests in Brgy. Didipyo Kasibu Nueva Vizcaya prior to the mining
operation can be protected in such a way that is consistent with Heidegger's concept of poiesis or art.

Mountains and forests in Brgy. Didipyo Kasibu Nueva Vizcaya cannot be protected if followed
according to Heidegger's concept of poiesis or art. Heidegger's concept argues that technology as
poiesis and art which means bringing-forth, like a cocoon then turns into a butterfly or something
existing that did not exist before. It is because mining can be included to Heidegger's concept
which can destroy mountains and forest, which includes deforestation, erosion, contamination and
alteration of soil profiles, contamination of local streams and wetlands, and an increase in noise
level and dust. Moreover, despite of people who get benefits from it, there are still people who
argues to close mining activities due to its effect on their surroundings and to environment.

4. Do you think mountains and forests in Brgy. Didipyo Kasibu Nueva Vizcaya prior to the mining
operation can be protected in such a way that is consistent with Heidegger's concept of poiesis or art.

Also, Pit mining method truly destroyed forests and mountains as it is a open-cast
method where the extraction is starting from the ground In addtion to Heidegger's
agrument. The concept of poesis lead us to forget the beings of thing, what brought us to
have what we have.Heideggers view on technology is "fate", something that is
invevitable to progress in current age. So in order to save mountains and forest is Brgy.
Didipio, we have to build a relationship to modern technology to free us from compulsive
abuse of resources.

5. How can the Heideggers' theory of questioning thought guide

the Filipinos in utilizing the natural resources in Nueva Vizcaya?

In times of difficulty, Filipinos often have many questions

about life. These questions cause impressionable minds to
reflect on their surroundings. As a result, they will get the
opportunity to apply their critical thinking abilities to
modern technologies. Therefore, by educating them about
the perils of framing nature. Where enframing those rules,
danger in the truest sense exists. Today we experience
global warming, pollution, extinction, etc. are examples of
this threat. Heidegger's philosophy of questioning mind
can aid Filipinos in using natural resources in Nueva
Vizcaya. The theory made Filipinos reevaluate technology
in general and its effects on the environment, both
advantages and disadvantages.

5. How can the Heideggers' theory of questioning thought guide

the Filipinos in utilizing the natural resources in Nueva Vizcaya?

Some people in Nueva Vizcaya believe that open-pit mining

improves their way of life, but others do not; their location will
become more dangerous and threatened. Heidegger came to
the conclusion that people will act more brightly to stand out
and ask more questions the more threatened they are.
Technology poses the greatest threat because it could restrict
our ability to see the world via technological prisms. A factor
in carefully weighing the effects of one's actions, each of
which has a substantial impact on nature, is concern for
sustainability.
