Program Planning, Implementation and Evaluation

Health Promotion Program Planning Project Part #1: Needs Assessment Plan (20 points)
Your Needs Assessment Plan should include the following:

 Target Population (1 points) – College kids living in Stillwater, Oklahoma a medical approved cannabis
state.
 Why Conduct Needs Assessment (2 points): I want to conduct a needs assessment to focus on the
impact that medical cannabis has on college students in this area. I spent my first two college years at
Oklahoma State University and witnessed three classmates commit suicide my first year. I want to
focus on helping students during high levels of stress. This population could use a program to help with
mental issues while using all resources at hand such as medical cannabis.
 Planning Committee (4 points):
o Student Body President so the students can have a representative and have their opinions
heard.
o A Greek Life representative to help spread awareness and resources to all those in Greek life
that could be dealing with mental health issues.
o A scientist researcher on alcohol and drugs that specializes in anxiety and depression to help
spread and collect accurate information on the benefits for mental health.
o An advocate for mental health in college as it can be easier to hear from someone that is the
same age and dealing with the same experiences.
o A social media influencer that talks about their experience with medical cannabis and mental
health as social media is a big thing for our generation.

 Secondary Data (4 points):

source as it highlights the benefits of cannabis use and depression during the first years of

 Primary Data (4 points):

who deal with depression.
o Experimental research by using students who are dealing/struggle with depression and have
them journal their experience before medical cannabis and after and observe the effects.
