Next General Meeting
Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday,
April 6, 2022. We will have a drawing for a $25
gift card to Texas Roadhouse. Brian and Josh
from Idaho Fish and Game will be present to
answer questions.
March Meeting Summary
Our March general membership meeting was
held Wednesday, March 2, 2022 beginning at
7pm in the classroom at the indoor range.
Emergency Elections were held for secretary, as
Tabitha Zechmann was resigning. Nominations
for secretary were called for. Kim Boyack
nominated Hope Smith. No other nominations
were made. Ryan moved to accept Hope as
secretary. Motion was seconded and passed.
Changes to By-Laws and constitution were
discussed. Changes were posted in the January
and February newsletter and discussed in our
February meeting. Ryan moved to accept the
changes as read and posted. Motion was
seconded and passed.
Newsletter 2
Discussed our public range hours and volunteer
range supervision. Idaho Fish and Game is
mandating that we have open to the public hours
since Pittman-Robertson funds helped to build
our building. Hours were previously set based off
Shooter’s Bench hours of Tues – Fri 10am –
6pm and Sat 10am – 5pm. Those hours are not
agreeable to us due to member volunteer status.
Deadline to have public hours proposal to IDFG
by April 1st and hours implemented by end of
May. For the time being, our public hours are
Tues through Thurs 4-9pm.
The city of Nampa will be reclaiming the land
that our building is setting on December 19,
2026.
Danece Whitley wants to pass a huge thank you
to the Bow Chiefs for our cooperation from the
4-H families to shoot at our range on Sundays.

March Emergency Meeting Summary
We held an emergency meeting Wednesday,
March 16, 2022 in lieu of our month board
member meeting. Meeting began at 7pm in the
classroom at the indoor range.
Continued the discussion of our public range
hours and volunteer range supervision.
Robert Zechmann and Ryan Bollar have had
conversations with Derek Bibber from IDFG
about open hours. IDFG wants us to be open for
35 hours per week. We can not meet this due to
us operating on a purely voluntary basis. The new
hours proposed are as follows:
March 1 – May 31: Mon through Thurs 9am –
12pm and 3pm-7pm.
June 1 – Sept 30: Mon 9am – 12pm and 3pm –
7pm. Tues through Thurs 9am – 12pm.
Oct 1 – Feb 28th: Mon though Thurs 9am – 12pm
and 3pm – 7pm.
Non-members can join in leagues at standard
rates during the fall /spring seasons. No open
shooting during red dot and 3D leagues. Nampa
Parks and rec will be using our range for archery
classes beginning May 31st through mid-August
from 5:30-8pm Tues through Thurs. Range will
not be open during this class.
Public hours are subject to change (expand or
reduce) based on volunteer availability and range
use history.
We are asking members to please sign up to
volunteer as a Range Safety Officer to fill these
time slots. All volunteered hours will be going
towards a discount for next years membership
dues. An email will be sent out to our members
with a survey to see who can volunteer and for
what time frames we can get filled in. At this
point, we just need to see who can be availble.
The only requirement to volunteer is that you
need to be at least 18 years old. No certifications
are needed at this time.
A public shooter, or our “guest”, is defined as
anyone who is not a member that comes into our
range to shoot during public hours and is not with
a current member. Public shooters will need to
pay $10 per shooter per day and sign our waiver
as well as a IDFG wavier to shoot. Any shooter
under the age of 18 must be supervised by a
parent.
Range Safety Officer guidelines were read as
follows and was ok’d:
-check everyone in and check for proof of
membership. Offer guests the one day range fee
and membership options. Have everyone sign the
attendance log. Any shooter under 18 must be
supervised by a parent.
-Money box is in the supply closet. You will be
given the lock code. POS instructions are in the
lid. Keep money box in closet unless you are
sitting next to it the entire time. Make sure it stays
locked.
-Go over rules with all guests.
-membership keys will open supply closet. There
are cleaning supplies if needed. We do have
janitorial come in once a week so only clean as
necessary. Have members and guests clean up
after themselves.
-observe shooters are following safety rules.
-If you have questions or need help with
memberships, use the list of board member
phone numbers on the wall.
-Be sure to have shooters sign out of the log book
when they leave.

Our insurance does not currently cover public
shooters at our range. Our insurance only covers
our members and their guests. That is why we are
calling a pubic shooter our guest.
On March 9th, Jack, Steve and Mike met with
Mayor Kling to discuss possible options for
relocating our club to another loaction since the
city is reclaiming the land that we are currently
setting on. The mayor was very happy to include
us in the city’s 20 year plan and had several
options availble as possible new locations for us
including a golf course. New location options
offered indoor and outdoor range possiblities that
seemed very promising. If we can get another
property secured, we could possibly be out of our
current building and in our new home before the
city of Nampa’s deadline in 2026.
Lights in the main classroom of the range were
upgraded to LED lights. Old lights still work
great. They are in the kitchen if any one would
like to have them. Please contact Robert
Zechmann if you would like to come get some.

Volunteer Hours
As discussed in our March 16th emergency
meeting, below is a link to a survey to see who
might be able to volunteer to help supervise the
range during public hours. We already have a
commitment from two members to cover
Monday through Friday mornings, 9am - 12pm
and are primarily looking for individuals to cover
late afternoon/early evening hours. In addition to
volunteers willing to work regular hours, we will
also need people who can be on call to fill in if
someone is unable to make it (in case of illness,
vacations, family emergencies, etc.) The hours
that you volunteer will be considered work hours
as outlined in our by-laws and will go towards
reduced rates or a free membership. (See excerpt
from our by-laws below.)

Our By-Laws state:

Safety is the most important part of our archery
program. Remember that all shooters at the range
must shoot from the 20-yard line unless ALL
shooters present agree to shoot from a different
yardage. The portable target butts can be rolled
up for those that want to shoot closer yardages
while others are shooting the standard yardage.
All shooters must shoot from the same shoot line.
Under no circumstances should people be
shooting from different yardage lines.
Please remember to shut off lights and fans.
Be sure that all doors are locked and latched
on your way out.

When you sign up or renew, you should receive a

membership card with numbers on the back to
track your hours. Have a board member stamp
your card. Your work card(s) will serve to verify
your hours when you renew your membership. If
you have hours that have not been stamped on
your card, create a list of your activities and the
dates and attach it to the card.

Important Reminders/Information!!!!
Non-member, guest shooters must pay a
shooting fee (as posted at the range). Guests
must complete a Waiver and Release of Liability
annually to be deposited in the office door slot.
The fee will be paid to the Range Safety Officer
on duty during public shooting hours or
deposited in the slot in the door (outside of public
hours).

Keep in mind that a single membership with no

key is only $30 (even less after June, due to
proration), only 10 visits (or less, if prorated) and
they’ve already paid what they would’ve if they
had bought a non-keyed membership

With exception of public shooters during public

shooting hours, all members (with or without
keys) are responsible to make sure that those they
let in are members or accompanied by a member.

Nampa Bow Chiefs S3DA has been practicing
hard and the results are starting to show. Bow
Chiefs members and S3DA team shooters Grant,
Sarah and Grayce Hammons, all shot the Spring
Bear Shoot. On Saturday, Grant and Sarah took
first place on their divisions. On Sunday, Sarah
and Grayce took first place and Grant took
second place in their divisions. The team is now
up to a total of 12 shooters. We are looking to
add more teen-age shooters to the team. If you
