Good morning, everyone.

My name is Rex, and I am responsible for festivals and attractions in Thailand.

I’d like to start by looking at Songkran festival(潑水節)

Songkran festival is the traditional new year in Thailand.
Songkran is on 13 April every year, but the holiday period extends from 12 to
16 April, to enable citizens to travel home for the holiday.
Songkran is strongly related to their religion, Buddhism.
Mornings begin with merit making. Visiting local temples and offering food to
the Buddhist monks is commonly practiced. On this specific occasion,
performing water pouring on Buddha statues and the young and elderly is a
traditional ritual, representing purification and the washing away of one's sins
and bad luck. As a festival of unity, people who have moved away usually
return home to their loved ones and elders. Paying reverence to ancestors is
an important part of Songkran tradition.
The most attractive activity to me is slopping. People splash water on each
other to collect good luck throughout the year. Splashing water on people
makes them wet, but they don’t feel angry or humiliated, because water
symbolizes blessings and keeps everyone cool in the hottest season.
You may have seen a kind of white mud cream at the celebration, which is
actually marl. When you put it on the body, you hope to remove all the bad
luck of the past year, and it means to pray for the following year. However, it
should be noted that in recent years, because many women have expressed
that they have been harassed, the Thai government has stipulated that the use
of marl is prohibited in some crowed area.
There are some tips I want to share, and the first is about wearing. You should
wear light and quick dry clothes for fear of being cold, and the shoes are
water proofing at best.
Next, I want to introduce some tips about accessories
We can use waterproofing bags hanging on the neck to bring cellphones and
key.On. Top of that, we should wearGoggles to protect our eyes from some
diseases. The last one is coins, it is prohibited to bring water on the public
transportation, so you can fill the water on the spot but it should be paid 5
baht.

Moving on to the next part, I’d like to introduce the chatuchak weekend
market.
There are 15,000 stands, so it can take a long time to shopping. It is the
heaven for shopaholic because it contains all kinds of merchandise in
Thailand. It’s important to bargain before you pay the money. The price is
cheaper than Taiwan, so it’s a good opportunity to release your stress by
purchasing everything you want.
Now, that’s take a look at the feature product, leather goods. The leather
goods are so fascinating because the accessories are full of holiday style. On
top of that, there are custom-made passport cases and wallets with your name
engraved on them. Next, I want to introduce the coconut ice cream , the ice
cream is in coconut shell.
Not only can you eat fresh coconut pulp, but you can also choose a variety of
ingredients, such as peanut, mangoes, and rambutans.

Now I’d like to move on to the shemale shows. It’s a unique culture in
Thailand. After a long period of practice in the talent show, the Thai shemale
show has become a famous culture performance and attract the people
around the world.
After the performance, you can take a picture with the shemale, but you have
to pay tips. On top of that, it’s important to respect them. Actually, there are
18 genders in Thai, as we can see, in Thailand they embrace all kinds of
gender identity, as this class is about cross culture issues, I think there is a
long way to go in Taiwan about receiving all kinds of genders.
So, to sum up leaning the culture in Thailand and embrace all kinds of culture
can definitely expand our horizons. Thank you for listening.
