Adam is now in London, after his Paris restaurant business goes down the tube and was after

that, involved in drugs in the United States, working in small restaurants and generally being a
junkhead. He then cleans up and goes to London, where he meets the son of his mentor. Tony is
the son of the mentor. Tony is the son of the man who Adam learned everything about cooking
from. They agree to work out a partnership. Tony initially rejects Adam but later, has some food
critics visit Tony's restaurant, and Adam tells Tony that if he doesn't let him 'save' Tony's
reputation that day, the critic will savage the restaurant.

So, Tony accepts and Adam moves into Tony's hotel the restaurant that they will together open is
in the hotel) and he then recruits various friends of his from the old days, including Michel, a
Frenchman, who Adam had messed up back in France by releasing rats into his restaurant while
it was being reviewed. Michel has been out of a job since then and eager to make amends, Adam
recruits him. Others are also brought in. Helene, is more relucant. Adam' behavior puts her off.
But she joins him when he engineers her to work with him, by making her arrive late at her
current restaurant. He also triples her salary.

We also get to meet Adam' rival who also had a bone to pick with the latter. Adam visits his
restaurant and tells him about his intention to open a restaurant and get his third Michelin star.
On opening night, Adam finds the food bad and has a fit of rage. He assaults Helene verbally and
holds her shirt collar and tells her to get out, along with the rest of the of the kitchen staff. The
diners are refunded. This is because of an advance negative article on him along with the fact
that on opening night, three tables are as yet unoccupied.

Helene is persuaded to return. One day, Adam is warned that two Michelin reviews are
apparently in the restaurant. While appearing anonymously, Tony tells everyone about their
habits. They always come in twos. One sits at the bar and orders drinks and the tasting menu.
The other at the table and orders a la carte. They ask for a half bottle of wine and keep a fork on
the floor to see if the staff will be attentive to pick it up. Michel jeopardizes the meal and the
food is returned, being too spicy. Michel tells Adam it was revenge for Paris.

Adam goes on a bender, arrives at his rival's restaurant, who prevents Adam from killing himself
and then makes him an omelet in the morning. He then tells Adam that he knows Adam is better
but he is needed as because of him, the rest are pushed towards greater creativity.

Back at Tony's hotel, Helene (who has fallen for Adam after they went out to an event) and Tony
tell Adam that the two gents were not Michelin reviewers. One day, after being beaten up by his
creditors, two from Michelin do show up, and are pleased enough with Adam to give him the
star. His debt has also been paid off by his ex-girlfriend Anne Marie (Vikander). As the movie
ends, we see Adam joining the team for a group lunch.
