Assessment 1
The Polytechnic University of the Philippines is one of the school that offers
equity in education as they believe that everyone can be educated. Their mission is to
create practical knowledge and skills that can serve as a catalyst for developing a
person’s interest, imagination, self-confidence, and excitement for learning new things
so they can go beyond what they think they are capable of. PUP wants create,
organize, and create a good learning environment to accommodate students, including
all of its risks, in order to make them a proper member of society. It maybe a long
process but it makes sense to maximize the cultivation, motivation, and encouragement
of this most valuable asset as it was the vital contributor for development of any country.
As a student of BTLEDICT, the PUP’s Vision, Mission, Philosophy, and 10 Pillars
are much more aligned with my course. As a student, I know the importance of
education to anyone. Receiving a good quality of education, learning in good
environment and able to access necessary resources and materials to be able to
develop their skill are the vision and mission of PUP which more aligned with my
course. While their philosophy believed that education is an instrument for the
development of the citizenry and for the enhancement of nation building. We, as the
future educators, must have faith in our ability to use the knowledge, skill, and education
to improve our nation. On the other hand, the Pillars are our guide in this career path.
We must ensure that we can be responsible person that can provide best curricula and
instruction for students, provide productive learning environment, and promote holistic
student development and engagement. I reflect on my early years as a student and
think the teacher who had a lasting influence on me. I aspire to be like such people who
inspired many kids. I want them to be able to reach their greatest potential and be
equipped to think deeply and critically when they enter the world. Educators hold the
key to our society’s destiny; the principles they inculcate in children will determine how
people behave.
As for the parallelism of University’s shared value and principle and shared value
and principle of Education, they are indeed parallel to one another. Their goal is to have
a good quality of education that can guide students to their dreams. Whether they are
privileged or not, students can have a same access to resources and materials that can
be used for their studies. Both university shares the different yet same value and
principle that pursues integrity and accountability, inclusivity, safe learning, equality,
excellent faculty and democracy. They want to build a lifelong learning opportunities,
responsible and excellent faculty that can provide opportunities for global engagement,
ensure that all curricula are within the standards of quality and excellence, and offer
meaningful growth and transformation to the students to achieved brotherhood, peace,
freedom, justice and nationalist-oriented educators imbued with the spirit of humanist
internationalism.
In conclusion, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines is the stepping stone
for any students that strive for their dreams and goals. They prioritize the development
of a student as they will become one of the pillars for society. The school mold each
individuals to become respectable person who can engage in day to day life. Hence, I
am lucky to be one of the future educator that can shape a person’s character and
perspective to become a honorable human being.
