INTRODUCTION
It gives me great pleasure to present the first edition of the annual
training calendar for our unionized employees. The objective of these
programs is to deliver short-duration quality programs for our
employees, in order to equip them with the advanced knowledge and
skills to conduct their daily work in an effective and safe manner. We
hope that this will facilitate their personal contribution to the future
success of OIL. These programs hopefully will furnish the employees a
chance to refresh and rejuvenate their knowledge and to reacquaint
themselves with present-day thinking and to gain insights and self-
enrichment.
The Learning and Development Team has been reviewing the employee
training needs of OIL. After considerable evaluation, we made several
changes and will be commencing with many training initiatives during
2017-18. In order to streamline the various training programmes that we
conduct every year, we have introduced of a project approach to
employee training to bring parity to the programmes conducted by
different external agencies.
It is my hope that you will find the employee Training Calendar a useful
tool in planning your departmental training needs.

PREFACE
L&D Department is going to conduct various training courses for our
employees and other personnel engaged in OIL operations as per
schedule given below. All the HoD’s are requested to get the same
circulated amongst all the concerned training coordinators in their
respective departments and send adequate nominations from each
department. If any nominated employees are unable to attend the
course due to any reason, substitute for the same may kindly be
nominated under intimation to L&D Department.

In addition to the training programmes given in the calendar, L&D


Department shall regularly circulate technical trainings conducted by
various institutes.

Please note that this is the first edition of the Annual Employee Training
Calendar and our endeavor shall be to enhance the various employee
trainings in the coming years. In this we request you to kindly give your
valuable feedback to oiltraining_wp@oilindia.in

It may kindly be noted that these courses are internally developed by


L&D Department and the same would not have been possible without the
active involvement and support of seniors and all the departments.

DIVYANG
This is an annual training programme conducted specifically for specially
abled employees of OIL (PWD category). This programme lays significant
emphasis on improvement and development of employees, motivating
them and ultimately is a step towards organizational growth. It is also the
Endeavour of this programme to serve as a platform to discuss the
various issues pertaining to PWD employees and to provide an informal
counseling to all participants with respect to work life and overall
personal effectiveness.

BHUMI
A customised training programme for women employees of OIL is
scheduled annually (either in-house or in-country). This customised
programme is dynamic in nature and the programme structure is
modified every time in order to keep the programme contents relevant
to the needs of the women employees. The range of topics included in
this programme are personal effectiveness, work life balance, gender
issues, family counseling, etc

UDVIKAS
This is a basic / intermediate computer and internet training programme
to familiarize OIL employees with the basics of Windows and MS Office.
In addition to that, they are also taught how to look for information on
Google and how to fill up various web based forms.

VIKAS
This programme is for the annual in-house / in-country training
programme conducted for specifically for SC/ST/OBC employees of OIL.
The content and duration of the programme is dynamic and is
determined after discussion with the members and officials of
Reservation Cell of OIL.

SAMPARK
This annual training programme is organised for executive committee
members of our recognized union on the topics like Union - Management
relations, Negotiation Skills, International Business Scenario/Current
volatility in Petroleum Industry, Outsourcing, Govt. of India Guidelines
regarding wage negotiations etc. The main objective of this programme
is to enhance personal and collective skills needed for effective
leadership by way of experiential learning for individual and group
leadership and also managing work effectively for personnel and
organizational excellence.

VIDYARANYA
This induction programme is a customized In-house training program for
our newly joined employees on behavior skills viz-a-viz role &
responsibilities. The main objective of the program is to emphasize on
improvement and development of human resources and making the
employees to understand the values, ethics and role & responsibilities
towards their mother organization

SAKSHYAM
This is OIL’s flagship soft skill training programme which is a combination
of interpersonal people skills, social skills, communication skills, character
traits, attitudes, career attributes and emotional intelligence quotient
(EQ) among others that enable OIL Employees to effectively navigate
their environment, work well with others, perform well, and achieve their
personal as well as organisation goals. Till date, about 3000 OIL
employees have undergone training under Project Sakshyam. The
training programmes under Sakshyam are held all over India and the span
of the programme is 5 days (including a one day industrial/sightseeing
tour). The training content of Sakshyam encompasses different subjects
related to organizational culture, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR),
personal skills development, group behavior and some specific topics like
RTI, personal financial planning & budgeting and man management
contracts. Furthermore, to bring parity of learning, all the employees
were divided in three major levels i.e. Level-I, Level-II, Level-III and
accordingly different course modules were prepared.

ANUBHUTI
Anubhuti is a unique workshop targeted at employees’ health and
concerns for the first two days and their spouses on the concluding day.
The objective of the workshop is to create awareness on the importance
of balancing work, family and personal life of the employees. The goal of
ANUBHUTI programme is to take a holistic approach towards improving
the health and well being of employees and their families at large, and to
pass on a message to the adjoining societies through the OIL families.
After three months, one day program is held for the participants and
their spouses to look at the effectiveness of the program on the
participants.

ANUBHAV
Project Anubhav is a unique one day training programme for sanitation
workers engaged in OIL’s operations. The main focus of this programme
was to train the front line sanitation workers of OIL and to equip them
with appropriate knowledge and skills for better sanitation and hygiene
outcomes and help contribute in the Swaach Bharat Initiative.
Furthermore, it was also to focus on health and wellbeing of these
workers for social upliftment and change in attitude & outlook. Till date,
750 sanitation workers engaged in Duliajan have been trained under this
project.

SURAKSHA
Suraksha is a training course for licensed drivers’ engaged in OIL
operations. This one day post license driving training includes ½ day
Classroom + ½ day Practical assessment. Each participant shall be
awarded a Graded Certificate based on his/her competency judged
during the programme.

PARIPOORNA
Paripoorna is a bi-annual retirement training programme for OIL
employees retiring in the next five years. This superannuation
programme takes a holistic view of retirement and addresses issues like
Introduction & importance – retirement planning, Factors affecting
retirement life & life cycle after retirement, Income / Fund generation /
Insurance / Tax planning. Difficulties, challenges and the solution of pre-
retirement life, 7 secrets of happy retirement life, etc.

UTTARAN
Uttaran is a supervisory development programme for OIL employees of
who are of supervisory level / senior office staff / staff engaged in record
keeping & liasioning with other departments. The course of the program
is role of supervisors, principles of supervision, effective communication,
interpersonal skills, allocation of man/machine power, time
management, record keeping etc.

UTTHAN
This is an innovative out-bound training programme which helps in team
building for organizational excellence. The programme objectives are
Team Building, Interpersonal Relationships, Conflict Management,
Actualization of Values – Respect, Honesty, Integrity, Ownership towards
work, Building Trust, Organizational Belongingness & Pride. All
participants are kept in camps in locations like wildlife sanctuaries,
camping locations, etc

SWAYAM
This continuous on-site HSE training programme aims to educate OIL
employees and contractor personnel on the Importance of occupational
health, safety and environment in the upstream oil & gas sector. It also
helps in understanding the laws, rules and standard operating procedures
(SOPs) pertaining to HSE viz., Mines Act. Oil Mine Regulations,
Environment Protection Act, OIL SOP's. Various example cases of
accidents, incidents and their causes are discussed to encourage
participant inputs. Safe work procedures related to material handling, hot
work and work permit systems, confined space, chemicals, radioactive
materials, drilling mud, waste, housekeeping, PPE etc are also discussed.
The objective of this programme is to learn from incidents and the
importance of reporting/investigating incidents.

AAYUSH
This Stress Management & Yoga Training helps people recognize the
impact of excess pressure on themselves and others, and enables
participants to be more effective at work and at home. Tailored
specifically, Stress Management is designed to help employees better
deal with the pressures of the modern workplace. Through highly
interactive learning, participants apply these stress management training
tools to getting more of what's important to them done in less time.
Organizational skills are improved so that fewer things "fall through the
cracks."

SEVA
This is an Inter customer relationship management training programme.
Participants of this programme are taught that internal customers are our
colleagues, employees from other departments and our vendors with
whom we deal regularly. This training deals with Identifying internal
customers and analyzing service “touch points”, Understanding service
perceptions and the importance of managing them, Determining each
employee’s needs as a customer, Measuring internal service, Building a
positive attitude for internal service, Eliminating blame and “That’s not
my job” attitudes, Dealing with difficult or challenging internal customers.
The overall aim of the programme is to take action to build teamwork
across the various departments of OIL.

FACING PROMOTIONAL INTERVIEWS


This hybrid training programme is a mixture of internal trainers and
external experts. It is specifically designed for employees who shall be
facing interview boards for various internal promotions scheduled
regularly. The internal trainers educate the participants on topics like
CDA Rules, OIL's Activities & Overview, CSR Activities, and Modified
Standing Orders. And the external experts then take classes on Effective
Communication, Do's & Don’ts of Interview and Personality Development

AWARENESS PROGRAM ON SEXUAL HARASSMENT

‘The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2013’ is an act of


parliament enacted in December 2013. As per the provisions of the act
any company with more than 10 employees is liable for any sexual
harassment incidence at the workplace unless it has taken steps as
defined by the law for ‘Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal’. As per the
provisions of the act, OIL Organizes workshops (training programs) and
awareness programs at regular intervals for sensitizing the employees
with the provisions of the act and orientation programs to the
employees.

SOP FOR TRADE & DIPLOMA APPRENTICES


Safety Orientation programme (SOP) is organized four times in a year and
it is imparted to newly engaged Trade (ITI) and Diploma Apprentices. As
per Mines Act 1952 it is mandatory to impart safety training to any
person who is engaged as an apprentice, probationer, contract basis or
permanent. This training enables safety awareness and enhances the
knowledge of apprentices in safety & other hazardous areas of different
functions. All the apprentices are provided
provided with PPE during this period
and on completion of SOP, apprentices are placed in different
departments for practical training.

Tentative Dates – Bi Annually for both Trade & Diploma Apprentices

FIRST AID CERTIFICATE TRAINING


This statutory training programme is conducted on a monthly basis.
Learning first aid can help you feel more prepared and able to cope in an
emergency situation it gives learners the skills and confidence to respond
to a range of accidents and first aid emergencies they could encounter in
the workplace. Learners must attend all sessions to be eligible for
assessment, which is done by continuous observation and questioning
during the course. On successful completion of this course, participants
receive a first aid at work certificate which is valid for three years.

GAS TESTING & WORK PERMIT TRAINING


This half day statutory training programme is conducted on a regular
basis for OIL employees. This programme covers the following two
aspects:-
a) Gas Testing procedures, precautions against noxious and flammable
gases etc.
b) Work permit system.
Suitable trainers from Chemical and HSE Department conduct the
programme

MINES VOCATIONAL TRAINING


This is a flagship statutory training programme under which we training
all field going employees/WCL/Contractor Personnel in various safety
aspects. Trainers from various departments conduct classes for this
programme. The programme duration of the mines vocational training
programmes are given below –

LIFE SAVING TECHNIQUES TRAINING


Lifesaving is the act of rescue, resuscitation and first aid. The main
purpose of the this course is to prepare the participants to assist those
involved in accidents, teaching them the knowledge of basic rescue
techniques, the skills to perform them and the judgment to know when
and how to act so that they can be prepared for emergencies.

Tentative Dates – July 2017, November 2017 and March 2018

SAFETY COMMITTEE MEMBERS TRAINING


A well-trained safety committee is a very valuable tool to help
management provide a safe workplace for employees and improve the
bottom line of any company, large or small. A safety committee should
be comprised of managers, supervisors, workers and union
representatives. Some topics covered with such a training programme
are Occupational Safety and Health, understanding the safety
regulations, recordkeeping requirements, hazard recognition, conducting
job safety analyses and other auditing tools, job safety observations,
correct techniques for accident and incident investigations, and effective
meeting practices.

WORKMAN INSPECTOR TRAINING


As per Mines Rules, 1955 every mine needs to have three suitable
qualified employees as workmen inspector. These workmen inspectors
are required to be given an orientation programme. Such workmen
inspectors are given a six day training programme. Various departments
such as S&E, ER, Drilling, PSS, Medical, GMS, Field Engineering, Electrical,
Transport and Fire Service five presentations during the first four days of
the programme. Day 5 & 6 is designated for field visits to various
locations and installations. A half day refresher programme is held
regularly for the workmen inspectors.

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING

Basic life support training is an essential training programme for all


hospital staff. This programme covers Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
(CPR) for adults / children / infants, 1 and 2 rescuers CPR, use of
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Relief of Chocking / foreign
body airway obstruction. The main objective of this course is to provide
the participants with the ability to give effective resuscitation, enhancing
confidence in dealing with cardiac arrest victim and to update his/her
skills and knowledge. This course comes with a valid certification and BLS
provider card.
