M.L.K.

When looking at freedom, we think of a lot of people, Abraham Lincoln, George

Washington, Samuel Adams and more. But who I want to look at, is Martin Luther King

Jr, the man who led and organized marches for black people to vote, desegregation,

labor rights and other basic civil rights. Martin Luther King Jr. was an amazing man who

always saw the good in others and wanted to create peace and tranquility in all

America.

The reason I chose Martin Luther King Jr. as my leader of choice that I admire

and used the TSLC is because he was never scared of getting looked down on by

others. He was never scared of death, or what would happen to him at the end of

everything. A quote from M.L.K. that I will always remember is, “We must use this time

creatively, in the knowledge that the time is always right to do right.” This demonstrates

how MLK is a committed leader because his voice was such a powerful thing that he got

hundreds of thousands of people to just watch him speak. His voice was like a shining

light casting over all America to bring people together and stop these ridiculous acts of

violence from the government and other americans. This quote is very important to me

because it shows that even though MLK has passed away, his words still hold such

valuable meaning to others like myself. What he wants listeners to grasp from this
speech is that life is short, everyone must work together in times of darkness and to do

right in times where others might judge or discriminate against you.

M.L.K. is using TSLC in many of his speeches. By looking at a great example of

how M.L.K. models the way is on November 27th, 1962, in a high school gymnasium in

Rocky Mount, North Carolina, he talks about his past, his future goals, and why he

believes America can and will become a great country, it is that people need to change

their ideology on certain things, and find common ground with others who may not feel

the same as them. To respect others is one of the greatest gifts even till this day that

MLK wants others to achieve. M.L.K. has created a huge factor of inspiring a shared

vision by credibility, shared aspirations and ownership. His vision was inclusion, non

violence, respecting each others rights and everyone aspecting that we all are

Americans. M.L.K. also listened to others opinions, he was not a man who disrespected

other people's beliefs but wanted to know why his own were different from theirs. How

M.L.K challenges the process by him knowing that many people might not listen to him

and him understanding that not everyone has the same belief as him. M.L.K. never had

the fear of failure, lack of confidence or impatience. Martin Luther King Jr. enabled

others to act especially after giving a heart thrusting speech where everyone was so

hyped to get the ball rolling. By his speech, others acted in peaceful protest to gain the

respect they deserve. M.L.K. encouraged the heart from not just people who were there

in his rally, but those nowadays. Now, even people respect his actions of non violence

to gain freedom especially as a black man.

Finally, looking back at the time M.L.K. was alive, his words carry a deep

memory that will always stick in mine and others' minds. What others need to
understand, from back then, and even now, is that not everyone has had the same

gifted experiences as others and not everyone has been dealt a good hand at birth, but

because of Martin Luther King Jr, he was right all along. To not let others put you down

and to keep pushing.
