Starfinder One-Shot: System Takedown is a short Starfinder adventure designed to be played in a


single 3- to 4-hour session. This adventure includes pregenerated characters with backstories tied
to the plot of the adventure (found in a separate, downloadable PDF on paizo com). If players create
their own characters, they can use the adventure background to customize their characters to the
adventure.

Duthuj
Former Veskarium military operative turned devoted rebel.
Born on the watery planet of Vesk-2, Duthuj saw joining the
Veskarium military as an opportunity to display ijtikri prowess
and break away from stereotypes about their kind. Though they
proved themself in training well, they soon became disillusioned
with the lack of advancement available to non-vesk within
the military. When reassigned to Vesk-6, they hoped it would
provide a new start; instead, they grew disgusted with the
corruption and abuse of power they witnessed and resigned
their position. Rather than return home, however, they took
their newfound distaste for Veskarium rule and sought out the
pahtra rebels they’d heard of on Vesk-6. They viewed joining
a pre-existent guerrilla movement more likely to succeed than
rallying their largely acquiescent kin against the Veskarium.
Duthuj doesn’t want fighting for a serious cause to make them
dour, and they go about their business with an incongruous
amount of cheer. They know they’re a trained killer but try to
use those skills for the betterment of the people of Vesk-6 and
others across the Veskarium. Duthuj sees the corruption going
on within the Veskarium and does their best to oppose it, while
also knowing it can’t become all encompassing.
Khavarku: Though they were wary of the vesk Khavarku,
Duthuj is determined not to judge anyone based on species as
the Veskarium had judged them, and was an early proponent
for letting the man in. The two have a calm relationship, with
Duthuj slowly opening up to the vesk in their midst.
Syrelle: Syrelle was one of the first people Duthuj met among
the rebel band known as the Mrraheen. The two bonded over
their shared practicality and devotion to the cause. However,
Duthuj tries not to become as obsessed about the conflict as
they believe Syrelle has become.
Veevee: Duthuj and
Veevee share a verve and
dedication to freedom
that's made them fast
friends, and the two
often trade combat quips
back and forth. Of all their
companions, Duthuj has the most
sociable relationship with the lively
skittermander.

khavarku ivorik
Disaffected vesk anti-imperialist with a pacifist spirituality.
Though he was born to a military family stationed on Vesk-
6, Khavarku never took to typical vesk martial life. To his
parents’ dismay he showed a pacifistic streak from an early
age. Rather than join the military, he studied both philosophy
and astronomy, absorbing differing viewpoints and schools of
thought from throughout the galaxy. Khavarku came to believe
while the Veskarium claims to bring stability and prosperity to
their planets, this is simply a thinly veiled excuse
for conquering territory and subjugating the
residents of other planets. He joined the
Mrraheen pahtra rebel group several
years ago, severing all ties with his
family in the process. While the
pahtra originally viewed him with
suspicion, he’s proven himself to be
a loyal ally to the cause.
Khavarku has a strong sense of
spirituality, though he doesn’t adhere
to any one deity, preferring to take
inspiration from numerous sources.
He’s very protective of the team
and has a calm, gentle demeanor; he
prefers to solve problems peacefully,
but knows that’s not always possible.
Duthuj: Khavarku respects Duthuj’s
skill and appreciates their acceptance of him,
though often cautions them against attacking too
impulsively.
Veevee: He’s fond of Veevee, even if her antics sometimes
make him worry. Khavarku tends to spend a lot of his time
providing advice to Veevee, who eagerly listens but only
sometimes acts on it.
Syrelle: Although Syrelle was slow to trust Khavarku, the
vesk’s understanding of her caution and proven loyalty to the
Mrraheen aided in winning her over. The two have a mutual
understanding, though Khavarku’s pacifism is in opposition to
Syrelle’s more audacious combat actions.

syrelle tirem
Battle-hardened guerrilla determined to free her homeland.
Syrelle grew up in the nation-state of Hafrerren hearing tales of
the daring pahtra rebels who fought back against those occupying
their home—and about the brutality with which the Veskarium
treated such resistance. This cemented a hatred of Veskarium rule
in her from an early age, and as soon as she was old enough she
followed her family’s tradition of joining the Mrraheen. Years of
fighting haven’t treated her kindly, costing her an arm, eye, and
several siblings, but these hardships have only strengthened her
resolve to see the vesk gone from her planet. She refuses to call
the world by its vesk designation, instead only referring to it by its
original name, Pulonis.
Taciturn and practical, Syrelle has a keen eye for battle tactics
both in the jungles and the streets.
Duthuj: Syrelle values Duthuj’s skill in combat, though she
can’t understand how they remain so cheerful in the face of the
Veskarium’s tyranny.
Khavarku: Her relationship with Khavarku was rocky at first
due to her distrust of vesk, but though she was slow to warm
up to him, his contributions to the cause eventually won her
trust.
Veevee: She met Veevee when the excitable
skittermander discovered her injured in an alleyway
after a covert skirmish with vesk security forces and
offered her aid. Once she realized Veevee didn’t seem
inclined to stay away from the Mrraheen, she took her under
her wing and the two have been unlikely friends ever since.

veevee
Here to help the resistance and fight for her friends!
A native of the city of Starlance, Vesk-6’s spaceport, Veevee
once had an ordinary life working at a VR cafe. She aspired to
be an actress, but had trouble getting any of the holotheater
recording studios to take her seriously as an artist. Bored
and restless, she took to vidcasting in her spare time. Her vid
channel, Veevee’s Clubhouse!, has a small but enthusiastic
fanbase which she hopes to grow into stardom. The channel
is somewhat scattershot in its subject matter, containing
everything from Veevee demonstrating her favorite recipes, to
gushing about adventure vids, to trying to boost worthy causes.
About a year ago though, Veevee’s life took another turn when
she discovered an injured pahtra woman in a back alley: Syrelle,
wounded after a skirmish with vesk security. Veevee offered
her a good hiding place and some medical attention, and was
soon drawn into the pahtra resistance.
Veevee is bright and optimistic, spending a lot of time on the
infosphere chatting with her channel’s fans. In her time working
with the Mrraheen, she’s bonded closely with the other members.
Duthuj: Veevee enjoys Duthuj’s wry sense of humor and
determination not to take life too seriously. She does try to get
the ijtikri to come out of their shell more, and enjoys pulling
Duthuj into conversations just to hear what her comrade has
to contribute.
Khavarku: She views Khavarku as something of a protective
older brother. Veevee often tries to indirectly bypass Khavarku in
situations where she thinks he won’t agree, if only to see his reaction
to events. When Khavarku reacts, Veevee is sure to share the results
with her vid channel. Her viewers love teasing Khavarku.
Syrelle: She’s closest with Syrelle, as their friendship was the
reason she joined the Mrraheen. Though the two couldn’t be
more different in terms of personality, Veevee’s devotion to her
newfound cause is matched only by her devotion to
her pahtra best friend.
