You are at school now and ready to work hard. But what do you like doing in free time?
So, now I propose to make a journey to another country. It’s a high time to know the theme of
our lesson. Look at the map and say what country we are going to talk about. (the UK)
The aim of our lesson is to learn more about this country, it will be geographical outlook; we’ll
practice our speaking, use different activities in speaking, listening, reading and writing. At the
end of the lesson we’ll create our own map of the county and tell about the UK.

the with geographical names (oceans, seas, rivers, mountain ranges,
island groups).
Pupils with red sign will listen to the discussion and label
countries of the UK and capital cities on their maps.
When two Englishmen meet, their first talk is about weather. The weather changes so quickly in
Britain. In the morning it can be warm and sunny and in the afternoon it can be rainy and wet.
Your homework was to prepare the weather forecast.

Ben Nevis, in the Highlands of Scotland, is the highest mountain in Britain. It is 1,343 meters
high. Some parts of Ben Nevis are covered with snow all year round. The Severn is Britain’s
longest river. It is 290km long. It starts in north Wales and flows to the Bristol Channel. The
Severn Bridges, which crosses the river, is one of the longest suspension bridges in the world.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) is situated off the north-west

The UK is an island state. The two main islands are Great Britain (where England, Scotland and

More than 57 million people live in Britain. Many of them live in big industrial cities like
London. Manchester and Liverpool, for example, are big industrial cities in the centre of
England. But foreigners are often surprised by the fact that much of land in Britain is open

I. The official name of this country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern
Ireland. It is situated in the north-west part of Europe. The UK consists of four parts:
England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. England is in the east and south,
Wales is in the west, Scotland is in the north and Northern Ireland is on an island next
to Great Britain. The capital of England is London, the capital of Scotland is
Edinburgh, the capital of Wales is Cardiff and the capital of Northern Ireland is
Belfast.

P1, P2, P3, P4 were the best in pronunciation, speaking and reading but had some
mistakes in grammar.
