 Biosecurity means safety of living things.
 It is a programme designed to prevent the
exposure of birds to disease causing
organisms by reducing introduction and
spread of pathogens into and between the
farm.
 Biosecurity is important to maintain
healthy poultry flock until get the
production.
 To prevent unnecessary mortality.
 To reduce the revenue loss due to mortality.
 Finally to get quality product.
 To get maximum profit.

 Farm should be built in an isolated area.


 It means at least 3km away from nearest
poultry in case of breeder farm.
 1.6km in the case of commercial farm and
broiler farm.
 Fencing of farm perimeter to prevent
unwanted visitors.
 Feed storage facilities.
 Facilities for safe scientific disposal of dead
birds.
 At the entrance of poultry house, there
should be foot bath-lime, NaOH,Cl
 Safe housing-in rainy days house was covered
by using suitable cover.
 A 3m boundary of land around the building
must be kept free of vegetation
 Operational biosecurity means day to day
activities.
 Should use different pair of foot wears and
clean farm clothes in the isolated area.
 Use an effective integrated pest management
programme to control pests and rodents.
 Proper decontamination and disinfection of
equipments and houses.
 Disinfect the floor using lime 2 weeks before chick
arrival.
 Clean roof, wire mesh and floor with using detergent
before one day ( teepol)
 Appropriate programme of disease diagnosis
and proper vaccination schedule should be
implemented.
 Routine disease monitoring procedures.
 Regular culling of unhealthy and diseased
birds.
 Use quality water-filtered, boiled and cooled
water.
 Isolation
 Littermanagement
 Quality chicks
 Proper nutrition

 Healthy stock.
 Maximize the quality production.
 Keep new diseases away from animals.
 Reduce the spreading diseases among the
farm.
