Austria on Austria
L
EO Austria, now on his fifth year as coach of the Adamson Falcons, is a happy man, nowadays.
Rightly so. The Falcons, whose last championship came during the 1977 cage wars, are installed one of the favorites in the ongoing UAAP basketball championship. Its safe to say that the Adamson community is thinking big this season. And we understand that, said Austria. Austria, former PBA rookie of the year, is also happy and proud to see his eldest son Raymond Bacon Austria play toplevel basketball with champions Ateneo Blue Eagles. Were both professionals. I have no problem telling my men to play defense on Bacon. He should not be given open layups, said the elder Austria. I believe that Bacon plays his role with the Eagle to the hilt whenever he plays against us. Austria said the Falcons (2-1 win-loss record) are well-organized this year. Though, we lack playoff experience, there is cohesiveness among the players. I guess we dont want to be overshadowed anymore. Adamson stretched Ateneo to the limit before losing at the start of the tournament. The Falcons bounced back by dumping another pre-season tournament FEU Tamaraws, 78-59 beAustria, who had success coaching in the now-defunct PBL, said he will not prevent his son from entering the PBA someday. Hes a 6-foot-1 playmaker who is an excellent passer. He is also a leader, said Austria. But hes not in a hurry to join the draft. I know that theres room for improvement. Dennis U.Eroa
