(a) All questions are compulsory.
(b) Section A contains 15 MCQ’s and 8 assertion reasoning questions of 1 mark
each. It also contains two case study-based questions and one data-based question of
four marks each. This section is to be attempted by clicking on the link given
below. The link to the google form will be active from 8:00 am – 9:15 am.
(c) The time allotted for subjective part, Question No. 27 to 38 is from 9:15 am to
11:00 am. Section B contains five short answer questions of 2 marks each, Section
C contains five short answer questions of 3 marks each and Section D contains two
long answer questions of 5 marks each.
(d) There is no overall choice. However internal choices have been provided. You have
to attempt only one of the choices in such questions.

24. A tourist visiting Monte Carlo, Monaco, would probably stand and admire the beauty of 4
the fountain shown in the photograph, and might even toss a coin into the fountain and make a
wish. A water fountain is a wonderful place to witness the phenomenon of projectile motion.
Any object given an initial thrust and then allowed to soar through the air under the force of
gravity only, is called a projectile. These trajectories are described mathematically as
parabolas.

28. Plot a graph between frictional force and applied force on any object and mark static, kinetic and 2

29. An object moves from a point A to B under the action of a force, as shown in the following 2
graph. Calculate the total work done from A to B.

30. The position of a particle is given by equation x=2t3+5t cm. Calculate the instantaneous 2
acceleration of the particle at t=2s.

Draw energy – displacement graph for kinetic energy, potential energy and total energy of an

A shell of mass 30 g is fired from a gun of mass 50 kg. If the muzzle velocity of the shell is 100

34. Two objects A and B having masses m1 and m2 , are moving with initial velocities u1 and u2 3
(u1 > u2) respectively, in the same direction. Find the final velocities of A and B after an elastic
head on collision.

35. A food packet is released from a helicopter which is rising steadily at 4 m/s. After four seconds, 3
calculate (i) the velocity of the packet (ii) the distance between food packet and helicopter. (Take
g = 10 m/s2).
36. A simple pendulum, having a bob attached to a string, oscillates under the influence of the force 3
of gravity. The time period of oscillation of the simple pendulum depends on its length l, mass of
the bob m and acceleration due to gravity g. Derive the expression for its time period using
methods of dimensions.

37. a) A horse has to apply more force to start a cart than to keep it moving. Why? 5
b) Why are circular roads banked? Deduce an expression for the velocity of a car moving on
a banked road. (coefficient of friction between the wheels and the road is μ)

a) Define angle of repose. Find its relation with coefficient of friction.


b) Two blocks of masses 4 kg and 10 kg are connected by an ideal string passing over a
frictionless pulley. The block of mass 4 kg is free to slide on a surface, inclined at an angle
of 30° with the horizontal, whereas 10 kg block hangs freely. Calculate the acceleration of
the system and the tension in the string. Given μ= and use g= 9.8 m/s2

38. a) A body is projected at an angle with the horizontal. Prove that the horizontal range of a 5
projectile is same when fired at an angle and (900 – ) with the horizontal.

b) Two tall buildings are situated 150 m apart. A ball is thrown horizontally from a window
60 m above the ground in one building, such that it enters a window 15 m above the
ground, in the second building. Find the velocity with which the ball must be thrown.

OR

a) What is meant by resolution of a vector? Resolve a given vector ⃗ , making an angle


θ with y axis into two components which are perpendicular to each other.
b) Determine the value of 𝛼 for which the vectors ⃗ = 3 ̂ + 𝛼 ̂ + ̂ and ⃗ = 9 ̂ -6 ̂ + 3 ̂
are parallel to each other.
