ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic dramatically altered the face of various aspects in the society
within the Philippines and around the world, most especially in education. Due to the
various restrictions implemented by the government, the delivery of learning towards
learners have seen major changes. Schools utilized distant learning modalities such as
online learning, the use of modules and other related ways in order to ensure learning
continuity. Due to these drastic changes mutually experienced by both students and
teachers alike, it could not be denied that teachers experience stress in the light of these
major changes. This study utilized a qualitative approach in the definition of stress
experienced by teachers in the light of COVID-19 pandemic. Apart from the causes of
stress, the management of teachers in relation to their stresses has also been assessed.
Results showed that while stress is not a new phenomenon in the teaching profession, a
new set of stressors have grown among these educators, especially in the context of the
COVID-19 pandemic. The sudden change of how learning is transmitted to the students,
as well as the new documentary requirements needed to be submitted by the teachers
are few of the struggles that teachers face in the new normal education.
