I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson pupils/students will be able to:
a. Define the meaning of matter based on their own understanding.
b. Enumerate the importance of matter in their daily lives.
c. Draw or cut out pictures of different states of matter.

B. References: Grade 3 Textbook page 25-30
C. Materials: Cartolina, Pentel pen, colored pens, crayons, pictures of matter, laptop
D. Science Ideas: Solids, Liquids & Gases
E. Science Process Skills: Defining, Differentiating, Appreciating, Observing, Critical
Thinking
F. Value Focus: Honesty, Cooperation & Inquisitive mind
III. Procedure:
1. Review
a. Ask the class about the previous lesson.
b. What they have learn in the previous lesson.
2. Motivation
a. Introduce the game “Guess the word” by giving a sample.
b. Play the “Guess the word” game.
c. Let the students guess the word.
d. Ask someone in the class to guess the word.
3. Activities
a. The teacher will ask a student to stand in front of the class.
b. The student will be given a piece of paper. The teacher will instruct the student
to tear the paper into pieces.
c. Another student will be asked to get a candle from the teacher’s table and light
it with a match stick.
d. The students on their seats will observe their classmate’s work.
4. Abstraction
a. The teacher will ask questions about the activity.
b. Ask the learners about their ideas about states of matter.
c. Introduce the 3 states of matter.
d. Give the meaning of each state of matter.
e. Discuss the 3 states of matter.
5. Application
a. Let the students give their own definition of matter.
b. The students will give own example of the 3 states of matter.
c. They will enumerate the importance of matter in their daily lives.
6. Assessment
a. Identify the objects given based on the 3 states of matter.
IV. Assignment/Agreement:

Draw of cut out pictures of the 3 states of matter.
