CATERPILLAR® DIAGNOSTIC CABLE & HARNESS


LISTING

Caterpillar Service Technology Group offers many products that use cabling to connect Cat®
machines and engines to diagnostic devices, as well as other types of connections. It was
requested we provide a listing of Caterpillar diagnostic cables and harnesses for use as a
reference, and that is the purpose of this IRM. Of course, a list such as this will change over
time, and it cannot possibly include every kind of cable or harness that exists. But this list
represents our most standard cabling products, showing Cat part numbers and brief descriptions.
We hope this is useful for you.

110-4645 Cable used to connect machine to 6V2150 analyzer group to check 24 volt
starting and charging systems for medium track type tractors.
122-8840 3100 engine speed timing sensor test cable.
122-8842 3100 injection actuator pressure control test harness.
124-5643 3-pin Packard breakout cable providing voltage test points for individual wires in
the electronic engine control system. Used on 3116 HEUI in General Motors
highway trucks.
125-3662 HEUI bypass cable used to isolate and test sensors for faults.
126-7877 Used to set up and test electronic hydraulic controls on M300 excavators.
127-6359 Provides test points for injectors and injector harnesses on 3116/3126 HEUI
engines.
127-9797 VIMS download cable (replaces 9X33393 Cable Group) Used with HEDC
hydraulic excavator controls for connecting with Electronic Technician (ET).
Only the 300 series up to, but not including the 345B, use this cable. The 345B
and up use the 139-4166 cable assembly.
128-1171 Cable to simulate 3500B engine on an electronic PC based training aid.
129-2018 Provides access to data link directly from 40-pin electronic control module
(ECM), also powers service tool during cranking. Helps to isolate
communication problems due to OEM wiring harness problems.
134-5195 40-pin square C/D to A/B adapter cable, allows connection of 7X1715 square A/B
40-pin to 3500 & 3600 engines

152-7143 Harness is used only to flash the program EMPC2+ generator status control module
commonly abbreviated as the GSC+. Harness is used with the 139-4166 unicable as
an extension with a specific termination. It requires Cat Electronic Technician and a
communications adapter to complete the system.
157-4829 9-pin to J1939 under-dash conversion harness for Freightliner
160-0133 Short Unicable .6 m (2 ft) for 171-4401 CA II required for J1939/11 and Device Net
data links, also works on ATA (J1708) and CAT link.
160-0141 Serial to DB-9 cable used with the 171-4401 Comm Adapter to connect from the CA

167-9225 Required to bench flash the ADEM III ECM on 3216 and the model year ’99 ADEM
III C10/C12 and 3406E engines if flashing/communication through the cab
