Question 1=Question from Shoaib .

we have 5510 and its RJ45 port is connected with remote monitoring device having 232
port and its working fine
can i use a 9 pin female cable with same 5510 controller to communicate it with dse 5xxx
software or link 5000 plus software at the same time while RJ45 port of this 5510 is connected
with remote monitoring device (RJ45 port of 5510 is connected with RS232 of remote
monitoring device using a special cable ) see attached photo
or only one communication is possible at a one time remote monitoring device
or communication with 5xxx using P810 interface or 9 pin RS232 port of dse5510 ?

Answer by deep sea uk

As you mentioned, that is not possible because the RS232 only supports one Master at a time. So you
can only connect to one of them at a time.

Question 2 from Shoaib

please send me pin connection diagram and function of RJ45 connector on back side of
DSE5510 controller and also send me pin diagram nd function of each wire
for RJ45 connector of DSE 810 which is going to be connected on back side of DSE5510 for
communication . can we get any RS232 communication through RJ45 connector on back side of
DSE 5510 controller . I have seen a site node device which is used with DSE5510
through RJ45 connector and other end of that cable is connected to side node device RS232
port see below photo or RS232 port of site node 3G device . see attached photo shown with
arrow mark for connection point of cable which coming from RJ 45 connector of DSE5510 .
Answer of question 2 by deep sea uk . The 5510’s RJ45 port is an RS232. But you can only get the
connection with the DSE pc software and not to any other Master device, because this port is intended
to be used for programming only and doesn’t have the capability to configure slaveID, baudrate etc.

Below you can find the pinout details. You can bring an ordinary Ethernet cable (PC network cable), cut
one of its end and solder it to a DB-9 connector to use it with your RS232 Master device.

Signal RS232 9 pin RJ45 plug Signal Colour

socket
DCD 1 - n/c -
RD 2 8 TD brown
TD 3 6 RD green
DTR 4 - n/c -
SGND 5 7 SGND white/brown
DSR 6 - n/c -
RTS 7 2 CTS orange
CTS 8 4 RTS blue
RI 9 - n/c -
Note that the old 5510 did only support one communication port at a time (RS232 or RS485, but
not both at the same time).

The 5510’s RS232 port is for the use of modems or the pc software only. The 5510’s RS232 slaveID &
baudrate are fixed and cannot be changed (10, 9600).
If your 5510’s RS485 port is active, this indicates that its RS232 is disabled hence you cannot use it to
communicate through. You must either use its 810 interface with the pc software or the RS485 to
communicate with.
