Length of Lesson: 35 minutes in groups; 15 with the whole group and teacher

Lesson Overview/Rationale: This lesson is essential to students' understanding of learning to accept feedback
in a positive manner and how they choose to speak upon their own opinions.

tools to produce and publish writing, including collaboration with peers”

Learning Objectives:
● Students will illustrate social and emotional participation creating the foundations of what
makes a better writing with their groups
● Students will evaluate the feedback given by responding to their peers in a constructive
manner.

Technology Uses: Chromebooks – Students will read their groups writings in Google Docs and fill out a
response sheet in Google Classroom.

Materials:
● Chromebooks (1 per student)
● Assignment completed online

Procedure:

1. Students will be assigned into groups of 4


2. Students will discuss and list the foundations of better writing
3. Students will thoroughly read each other's writings
4. Students will apply the foundations they created to their response sheets
5. Students will accept feedback in a constructive manner and decide the
changes necessary
6. Students will meet back with the whole group and teacher
7. The class and teacher will discuss and reflect on the foundations of better
writing and how students understanding communication plays a
significant role

Assessment: I will evaluate the student’s grade based on participation, communication, and active listening, the
edited writing, the response sheets, the completion of the foundations listed (students will not be marked down for
what they think makes a better writing) and overall reflections with the class.
