CASE TITLE

Maguad Siblings Case

SUMMARY OF THE CASE

A teenage brother and sister were brutally killed in their own home, in broad daylight.
According to the father of the slain siblings, when he was fixing something in his wife’s
school, he received a phone call from Janice, whom they adopted in July 2021, and told
him to come home quickly. When he arrived at his home, he saw a blanket with blood
and a knife near the main door, and to his distress, he called his children, but no one
answered. When he unlocked the door, he never imagined that he would see his
children bathed in their own blood. His daughter, Crizzle, was stabbed in different parts
of her body and was infested by ants. While his son, Crizzule, was gagged and also full
of stabbed wounds, lying near the weapons that the perpetrator used. And when Mr.
Maguad called for their adoption, after a few minutes, Janice came out of her room with
her hair wet.

Mr. and Mrs. Maguad get suspicious when their adopted daughter says that she did not
hear Mr. Maguad calling her name because she was taking a shower and when Janice
calls them Mama and Papa for the first time. Furthermore, only Janice knows where
they hid the hammer and baseball bat used to murder their children.

During the investigation, Janice claimed that there were three men who entered their
house and killed their daughter first, which contradicts the police observation at the
scene. Based on the investigation, when the father arrived at the crime scene, his
daughter’s blood was still fresh. Janice claimed that she hid under the bed and
remained quiet. She also said that the three men were thieves, but Mr. and Mrs.
Maguad said that other than their children's phones, nothing else was stolen. Moreover,
Janice posted a Facebook status calling for help, and that was the time her ex-boyfriend
called, but she did not answer and changed her Facebook username.

The investigator gets more suspicious of Janice. They said Janice had the time to post
a Facebook status, wash her body, and change her clothes when the incident
happened. The perpetrator placed her clothes in plastic and disposed of them in the
irrigation system, which was seen by the police.

JUDGEMENT

The case of the murder of Maguad twins Crizzle Gwynn, 18, and Crizzule Louis, 16, in
M'lang, North Cotabato, was declared closed after six days of investigation. According
to sources, the Provincial Prosecutor's Office in Kabacan, Cotabato has previously filed
murder charges against two individuals, including a "survivor" named "Janice," in
connection with the sisters' murders on December 10 then the mother of the Maguad
siblings gives an update to the murder case and revealed that sacristan or altar boy
ministering at the church is one of the suspects involved and "Janice," who is being held
by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Mlang, is one of the
suspects too. Lovella Maguad, their mother, has revealed new evidence in connection
with the heinous crime. Three witnesses are believed to have reported what they
observed on the day of the incident to the authorities. The trial of the maguad sibling
who reportedly disappointed the parents of the two victims ended on May 23, 2022,
when the suspect who murdered their children was only sentenced to 9 years in jail.
The parents we're dismayed since they are expecting maximum justice to be served
According to a video created by Willamor Magbanua, the maguad couple screamed for
maximum justice and voiced their displeasure with the crime that occurred. They were
upset because the suspect, "janice," regarded them as though they were being taunted,
raised an eyebrow at them, and didn't appear to regret the crime she committed.
According to Lovella, the suspect is being looked after by the DSWD. The sacristan has
been in and out of the DSWD for more than 8 years, undergoing psychosocial therapy
and being cared for by them. Lovella is said to be praying for supporters of Republic Act
9344, also known as the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006, to see reality.
Senator Kiko Pangilinan's above-mentioned measure, she claims, protects children who
have already developed criminal minds. Judge Alexander Betoya of Kabacan RTC
Branch 16 sentenced the main suspect to 18 to 32 years in prison while another
suspect, a sacristan, was sentenced to 12 to 37 years in prison.
