What is the difference between "SECURITY" and "SAFETY"? How do you relate this with
your everyday living?
Both words can be defined interchangeably, but in this course, the distinction is that safety
is external in nature, whereas security is internal. Safety is the course of action we adopt to
safeguard ourselves from risks over which we have no control. In safety, we get out of our way
and ask if we are headed into a safe setting. While the term security refers to a condition in which
someone or something is guarded against causes that could harm them. In security even if we do
nothing or not take any defensive measures, we know that we are safe. It is like you knew already
that you are free from danger. According to what I read in an article, it is very different because
they stated that security surrounds, but safety enfolds. It really differs when they say, "To be safe,
never feel secure."
The significance of safety and security in all aspects of our lives is self-evident. I can relate
safety to my life as I go to great lengths to protect it from any untoward mishaps that could
potentially be harmful. To maintain a healthy body, I consume the right types of food and workout
occasionally as a countermeasure. To keep our family safe, we tackle issues as soon as we notice
them. To avoid being associated in danger, I used a safety mask and other safety equipment
whenever I go outside. Also, in order to stay safe, I always follow the guidelines and read the
labels. Being safe makes me feel less troubled. In terms of security, I feel most secure at home.
When I'm at home, I can let down my guard and simply relax because I'm with my family. The
same way I feel whenever I am outside and hanging out with my friends. I know I'm safe because
that's how our relationship is; we always look out for each other. Similar to how I handle data that
has been given to me, especially confidential data. Natural disasters and malware are two of the
most serious threats to physical servers today. It is my responsibility as the person in charge of
data security to keep the data safe and secure. This means that, in addition to implementing security
measures such as encryption and virtual private network, I must also keep it in a secure location
or folder. Safety and security encompass several other things, including financial stability, proper
housing, clothing, and food resources as part of the stability of everyday life, immunity from
violent act, and psychological comfort. The existence of security provides me with a sense of
assurance. I remember how I felt when things were uncertain, and it felt good because I knew I
was safe. At the end of the day safety and security is a basic need that we should not overlook as
it can also influence our whole wellbeing. It is the foundation for living a meaningful life. Our
personal safety and security are not always completely under our control, but we must make wise
decisions to protect ourselves and our data.
