Make a list of five typologies of social media
uses and gratifications. Give proper example
and explanation that supports your idea.

Social media is used by billions of people worldwide to connect and share information. Social
media gives you the personal freedom to interact with loved ones, learn new things, explore
new interests, and be entertained. Social networks are among the most well-known forms of
social media. Users can connect with people and businesses online thanks to these networks.
Because it has its roots in the field of communication studies, the uses and gratifications
hypothesis is applicable to social media. Social media is a platform for communication that
enables users to interact with millions, if not billions, of people worldwide.

The seven themes that will be discussed are:

(1) Social interaction
(2) Information seeking
(3) Communicatory utility
(4) Entertainment
(5) Relaxation

Social Interaction :

Relying on uses and gratifications literature, this usage theme is defined as using social media
to communicate and interact with others. Their scale items included meet people with my
interests and keep up with what is going on. Other uses and gratifications researchers have
also had a category similar to social interaction. E.g Whatsapp

Information seeking

This uses and gratifications theme is defined as using social media to seek out information
or to self-educate. Wikipedia is one of the prime platform for seeking information.

Professional Uses

A social media network like Facebook could be an excellent location to start your social
strategy if you own a small business like a restaurant. You can create a business profile on
Facebook that contains information about your menu and connections to your website.
Once your profile is complete, you can update it frequently with information about your
company, "like" other pages, and respond to messages or comments left by customers.
Facebook users can also provide reviews for you when you have a business page.
Entertainment:

Many people say that the major reason they watch Tiktok is that they appreciate its
material. Also Netflix is one major source of enjoyment in todays world. This might be the
most fundamental reason for consuming any material.

Relaxation :

This social media usage category is defined as using social media to relieve day-to-day
stress. Social media helps to reduce stress by extracting dopamine from our brain.
Youtube/Spotify can be a good source to help reduce our stress. We can listen to our
favorite songs.
