Historical Background

Bagumbayan is one of the 28 barangays of Taguig, Metro Manila in the Philippines.

During the Spanish Colonial Era, Bagumbayan was filled with forests. No one was brave
enough to settle here save for the families Tanyag and Garcia, both of which came from the
village of Tipas. Once they settled there, the Spanish Government established it as a
barangay of Taguig. Because it was recently founded, it was named Bagong Bayan (New
Town), and shortened to Bagumbayan.
Its first lumang bayan (barangay head) was Cererina San Juan, and the primary jobs
of the people then werefishing and farming. The next people to occupy the position of
barangay head before the American colonial Period were Tandoy Sta. Teresa, Lelay Sta.
Teresa, and Cepruto Marcelo. During the time of the Americans and the Japanese in the
Philippines, Laureano Garcia became the barangay's headand was followed by Victor
Padsisihan, Segundo Magundayao, Arturo Tanyag, Francisco Javier, and Nicanor Garcia.
Though it was the latest town that was founded then, the citizens of Taguig trusted
the following people to be its councilors: Elino Cruz, Benito Garcia, Cerilo P. Santos,
Arsenio Javier,Jose Aquino, Francisco dela Rosa, Francisco Tortosa, Claudio Marcelo and
Rufino Dacumos.
In 1958, the barangay was nicknamed "Sleeping Town" because the livelihood of its
people advanced slowly. However, later in 1959, their livelihood was stimulated because the
value of the land in the area that was normally exposed or used for agriculture suddenly
increased. Because of this, the government ordered the construction of what was then
called the South Superhighway, leading to an increase in land purchases by corporations.
From there, Bagumbayan developed into the barangay it is now

discusses how many people who were in Bagumbayan. Currently there are undoubtedly
some very specific demographics as to nationality and age, but the demographic population
(also known as the total population) has always been changing. The population of
Bagumbayan grew from 20,817 in 1990 to 49,319 in 2020, an increase of 28,502 people
over the course of 30 years. The latest census figures in 2020 denote a positive growth rate

Economic Profile

The objective is to understand the economic situation of this municipality. The report
uses data gathered from 2015 census information and aggregates socio economic statistics
in order to draw some conclusions about the people living in Bagumbayan and their
income, life expectancy, and living conditions. According to philatlas, most of the families in
Bagumbayan live below poverty threshold especially when it comes to health expenditures.

They also have such low rates when it comes to education attainment which hinders
them from getting any real employment opportunities available due as they are not qualified
for those positions. In the Philippines, education is so important because it will give them a
chance to have better lives and opportunities to earn. On a different note, another report
reveals that Bagumbayan has the highest rate of mortality among all other municipalities
in Metro Manila and that it has the slowest rate of improvement in sanitation. It would be
best for them to take into consideration these reports considering that data reveal that
people don't have enough access to healthcare, their mortality rate is higher than average,
and they lack sanitation which creates a lot of diseases and health issues.

Income inequality is declining worldwide but if people don't have any income at all
then they can't afford basic medical care. Education is a very important factor in
Bagumbayan. Most of the families don't have access to quality education so they are unable
to escape poverty and being unemployed. The only way that people can improve their lives
is by having enough income and be able to afford basic healthcare. The Poblacion in
Bagumbayan needs a lot of improvements as it already has bad sanitation conditions and
pollution.

There should be more community centers in this area where the people can gather,
learn new skills, and find employment opportunities together with their families. They
should also help each other through bankruptcy with the government existing services or
by using other organizations that can help them such as microfinance companies and
financial institutions.

Predominant Economic Activities

The economy is based on manufacturing activities such as foundries, metalcrafts,

precision machinery, and industrial facilities that produce chemicals, containers, and
plastics goods, building materials, food packaging, textiles, and apparel.

However, Bagumbayan is one of those residential villages with minimal economic

activity. For the present time, tourism-related activities are almost non-existent due to a
lack of widely available natural resources to lure people for recreation or leisure. There are
no seaside resorts or hotel and motel accommodations, there is no theme park, there is no
zoo or, there are no locations for a picnic and other outdoor activities. There are no
restaurants or bars. But since the place is a residential community, majority of the
households have small home-based businesses of their own.

At the present time, Bagumbayan can serve as a bedroom community for those
working in nearby commercial establishments. It has large tracts of residential land
available for the construction of residences that will house future household staff from
other cities while also enhancing its own economic growth.

Bagumbayan, Taguig City is in the formative stage of planning and development. It

still needs many things to be made available so that its people can enjoy, decent homes,
quality health care services, educational facilities that will educate their children.

Even though Bagumbayan is rich in usable real estate, it lacks open spaces for parks
and recreational activities. To compensate for this weakness, some people have converted
residential lots into business operations or split residential lots into smaller tracts with the
intention of developing a commercial establishment small business as an economic activity.

concepts of family and income are defined, what the survey covers, how much it costs to
conduct the FIES, how detailed the survey questions are, how long it takes to complete the
