Teacher’s Notes:

Give a copy of this worksheet to each student.

Divide your students into 2 groups (boys vs. girls preferably).

Their task is to fill in the gaps in the first and the second column.

Check their answers.

Teacher: Team A, number 1.

Team A: We think that men cook tastier food than women.
Teacher: Team B, do you agree?
Team B: No, we disagree strongly. We think that women cook tastier food than men.
Teacher: Ok, what about number 2?
Team B: We think that girls are more romantic than boys.
Teacher: Team A, do you agree?
Team A: …

Nominate different students.

Correct their grammar if necessary.

Then ask them to work in the same teams to come up with arguments (column 3).
They don’t have to think of all 6. 2-3 is enough.

When they are done make pairs: AB-AB-AB.

(One partner is from team A and one partner is from team B).

Play “Yes, but!”

The students compare their answers and find the points where they disagree.

The task is to persuade the partner that you are right.

To do that each person says 1 argument at a time.

They can use the arguments they came up with during the group discussion, but they can
also think of their own on the spot.

If you have got more arguments, you win and get a plus.
Then they proceed to the next point.
