This is particularly tough
for me because I don’t
speak or read mandarin.
These responsibilities
typically fall on the
shoulders of the Chinese

my school. We have had
experts in the community

next step will be inquiring
with them about what
exactly they do, and if I

I am applying ethical standards. I care about students and try my best every day.
Much of this is surrounded about getting better. With this reflection as my
evidence, I have long ways to go, but I have grown so much during my first four
years in the classroom. I respect each student as an individual, their right to
education, privacy while being dedicated to their learning and childhood
experience.

Over the last year, since beginning the induction program, I have gained a lot of
confidence. I will be returning home to teach next year, and I feel confident that
will do a good job stepping into an entirely new context, and I can’t say that this
would have been the case after my 4th year in the classroom. I have had the
opportunity to work with some outstanding teachers, and while structures and
top-level decision making of my school, which is closing after this year, have been
difficult to understand, it has challenged me and made me better. I am very
thankful for this and feel the professional lesson is to remember to always do your
best for students and understand that the greater the challenge the greater the
