My all-time favorite genre will always be horror and mystery. Whether it be books,
movies, or writing I am obsessed. I also really have grown a love and appreciation for poetry.
Clearly, most things I write for school are not horror /mystery or poems, yet more academic
essays that sometimes bore me, yet are fulfilling. I love the challenge of an academic essay with
a strict prompt that forces me to narrow in on a thesis. I want to hear other writers discuss finding
passion in what they might not necessarily be passionate about, like putting effort into an essay
you could not be less interested in. I also want to find some inspiration to write more horror and
mystery pieces, maybe incorporating that into poetry, and finding where my passion lies.
To accomplish this, I am going to start out listening to two of the visiting writers’ series
in October and then expand into the Indy area as new events arise. In the end, hopefully I will be
inspired to find passion withing the lulls while still pursuing previous interests.
Schedule:
Monday, October 3: Conversation with Kaveh Akbar and Paige Lewis (poetry)
