1st Sorrowful Mystery

The agony in the Garden.

Asia-Pacific is the most catastrophe -prone region in the world, with 84% of all
people affected by natural disasters living in this region. Rapidly growing cities
throughout East Asia make more people vulnerable to flooding, earthquakes, and
tsunamis.

Intention:
Let us pray for regional disaster preparedness and resilience.

Lord, when disaster strikes, help survivors find peace and hope amid the chaos that
ensues. Fill first responders with compassion, awareness, and a spirit of teamwork.
Bless leaders with wisdom and humility as they work to improve infrastructure and
systems.

2nd Sorrowful Mystery
The scourging at the pillar.

Every year, thousands of people — many of them children — are forced into the sex trade
or held against their will to work for little or no pay, in poor conditions, away from home.
Human trafficking is a problem everywhere, but it’s particularly prevalent in tourist
hotspots in Cambodia, Philippines, and Thailand.

Intention:
Let us pray for trafficked children and adults in Cambodia , Philippines, and Thailand.

Jesus, in the midst of the darkness, help enslaved children and adults see a glimmer of
hope. Lead them to people who will help them find a new life on this earth and eternally
in You. Help lawmakers confront the evils of human trafficking with robust policies and
prosecution.

3rd Sorrowful Mystery

The crowning with thorns.

Syrian, Lebanese, and Afghan families have been uprooted from their homes by the
fighting, finding themselves displaced in their own country or fleeing to neighboring
countries for safety.

Many Syrians, Lebanese, and Afghans lived comfortable, middle-class lives before they left.
But when families flee in the middle of bombings and other violence, they don’t have the
luxury of taking all their possessions. They arrive at refugee camps lacking clothes, shoes,
food, water, toiletries, blankets, and even their government-issued identification papers,
which makes it even more challenging to get assistance. They often have nothing to help
them survive.

For those who have fled their homes as refugees, it is hard to make a life and a future for
their children. They are far from home, with many living in tent settlements, camps, and
abandoned buildings. They depend on aid.

Intention:
Let us Pray for life-saving assistance and newfound hope for all refugees.

God, You are the Great Provider. You see your people’s needs with a tender heart. Just as
You sustained the Israelites in the desert and fed 5,000 men (plus women and children!)
with just a few loaves and fish, help them get exactly what they need each day to survive.
Comfort them as they struggle, and nourish their souls with renewed hope each morning.
Guide them to places where they can find help and rest.

4th Sorrowful Mystery

The carrying of the cross.

Children and youth have long been involved in both sides of the decades -long conflict in
Myanmar, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. The government has stepped up efforts to discharge
children and youth recruited as minors from military ranks.

Intention:
Let us Pray for child soldiers in Myanmar , Bangladesh, and Pakistan.

Lord, You create each child in Your i mage. Preserve their innocence. Protect them from
those who would corrupt their minds and harden their hearts. Restore to a fuller life those
who have been discharged or rescued from military or rebel ranks.

5th Sorrowful Mystery

The crucifixion.

Many families in large cities like Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, are torn apart as they struggle
with unemployment, poor nutrition, and diseases caused by lack of clean water or poor
hygiene. With families in distress, chil dren are often left to fend for themselves. Many
abandoned children find refuge and opportunities to flourish spiritually, emotionally, and
vocationally

Intention:
Let us pray for children living on the streets in Mongolia.

Heavenly Father, we know the plight of homeless children breaks Your heart. Please protect
children living on the streets, and give them hope by leading them to people who can help.
Guide them into the fullness of life You intend for all Your children.

toward us and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O

that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. let us pray

O God whose only begotten Son by His Life has purchased for us the rewards of eternal
life, Grant that we beseech Thee while meditating upon these mysteries of the Most Holy
