myClearance Portal Digital Identity Access
Background
The Australian Government Security Vetting Agency’s
(AGSVA’s) new vetting system – myClearance – goes live
on Monday, 28 November 2022.
At myClearance go-live, Chief Security Officers, Security
Officers, and clearance holders and applicants will
access myClearance using a Digital Identity.
What is Digital Identity?
A Digital Identity is unique to each user, and uses
encryption and cryptographic technology to safely,
securely and conveniently verify a user’s identity to
prove who they are online, through the Australian
Government Digital Identity System.
Through the use of a Digital Identity, users can be
confident their personal information is securely
encrypted and stored in Australia, protected by strict
security protocols set by the Australian Government and
only shared with the service they wish to access,
following their consent.
myGov (my.gov.au) uses Digital Identity (myGovID) to
strengthen the security of their online services,
including but not limited to, access to Government
Services such as the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
The use of a Digital Identity as a multi-factor
authentication is one of the most effective controls to
prevent any unauthorised access to a device or network
accessing sensitive information.
Setting up your Digital Identity
myGovID is the Australian Government’s Digital Identity
app. Download it to your smart device to prove who you
are when accessing government online services. Users
that haven’t already set up their myGovID, can do so in
three easy steps:
1. Download the myGovID app from Google Play or the
App Store
2. Enter your details
3. Verify your identity

Accessing the myClearance Portal
To access myClearance, users will need a Digital Identity
with at least a ‘Standard’ identity strength. To achieve a
Standard identity strength, you need to enter your
personal details and verify at least two Australian
identity documents. Each time a user accesses
myClearance, they are required to use their Digital
Identity to complete the sign in process.
