Network Electrical Specifications

Network equipment will be installed in a wall-mounted cabinet in the Mechanical Room

adjacent to the Family Room, on the right-side wall. The cabinet dimensions are:

26” wide
42.75” high
9.75” deep

The cabinet will be mounted so that the top is at eye-level, assuming no obstructions.

The cabinet has cable entries for either cables or conduit on top and bottom. The conduit holes
will accommodate 1 ¼” Sch40 conduit (1.75” dia).

We will need a single-gang AC outlet with clean, unswitched constant power below the cabinet
location at 8” - 12” AFF. A separate circuit breaker is preferred if possible.

A single Category 6-rated #23AWG (minimum) should be run from each Access Point and Data
Jack location to the cabinet location. We can provide the cable, or an Amazon link. We assume
riser-rated cable is appropriate for all runs- please advise if there are any plenum requirements.
We also assume that all cabling is entirely within indoor space, or protected in conduit. Please
advise if any outdoor-rated cable is required.

All runs need to be home-runs, and should be installed at least 12” away from electrical wiring
where possible, and cross any electrical wiring at a 90-degree angle if necessary, to avoid
interference.

All Wireless Access Points will be ceiling-mounted. Locations should be aligned with, and
centered between existing lighting fixtures for best aesthetics. At each Access Point, the cable
should penetrate the ceiling through a small hole, and there should be sufficient cable to reach
the floor. No box is required. The Access Points are powered via the Category 6 cabling.

All Data Jacks will be wall-mounted. At each jack, there should be a single-gang low-voltage ring
or box. Please leave a 6-foot (minimum) tail for termination.

In the Mechanical Room, all cables should terminate in the ceiling adjacent to the wall, above
the cabinet location. All cables should be long enough to reach the floor. Ideally, there should
be a 1 ¼” Sch 40 PVC conduit running from the ceiling to the cabinet location. We can
coordinate the exact conduit location, or install the conduit ourselves after the cabinet is
attached (conduit is for physical security, and is not mandatory)

Any existing data cable in the Mechanical Room that is connected to existing devices should also
be re-routed to the cabinet location. The existing Cox cable modem will also be placed in the
cabinet, so the conduit should be also routed to the cabinet, or a short piece of RG-6Q coax may
be needed to extend it.

Please advise when all cabling is complete so that we can schedule the final termination and
installation.

Thank you.

The top and bottom panels of the enclosure both have circular cable access ports for convenient cable
management. The tops of all models have three 1.75” ports and two 1” ports. The bottoms of 2U series models
have two 1” and 1.75” ports, while the 5U series models have three 1” ports and two 1.75” ports.
-Reversing the Front Door

In order to accommodate various rack installations, the front door can be reversed by switching the configuration of
the latch, lock and hinges. To reverse the door, simply remove the screws that secure the latch, lock and hinges to the
enclosure. Move each piece to the opposite side of the enclosure, so that there are two hinges on one side (one at
the top, one at the bottom) and install the latch and the lock on the other side.

Note: The unused screw holes are filled with rubber placeholders. To remove the placeholders, push them through
with a screwdriver. Keep the placeholders to refill unused screw holes.
