1800- Contemporary of
badminton was formed in India.
1860s- British officers took the
game back to England.
1873- Launched at the
badminton house,
Gloucetershire, owned by the
Duke of Beaufort.
1877- The sport was played in
England under the rules that
prevailed in India.
March 1898- the first open
tournament was held in
Guildford.
1893- The badminton
Association of England
published the first set of rules.
1899- The first ‘All England
Champion for men.
1900- - the first badminton
tournament for women.
1930s- Denmark, USA, and
Canada became ardent
followers of the game.
