Citrus Valley Lankaran:

Wedged between the Caspian Sea and the lush Talysh Mountains, Lankaran is a region of unique natural
diversity. It is the land of adorable nature and different tastes. This area is also a home to numerous hot
springs called Istisu (literally “hot water”), where local long-livers have been healing themselves for
centuries. The city itself is an old port that used to be surrounded by fortifications, and it’s ideally placed
between some of Azerbaijan’s best nature reserves. The swamps of the Gizil Aghaj reserve lie to the
north and are rich in birdlife, while the Hirkan Forest to the south is home to ancient iron trees as well as
the endangered Caucasian leopard. The region is also famed for its citrus fruits and flavoursome cuisine,
as well as being the centre of Azerbaijani tea growing. The local cuisine is pretty great too – don’t leave
without trying local dishes. Enjoy citruses, tea, mountains and lake views!

Lankaran's one of the best place for tourism called "Citrus Valley Lankaran". “Citrus Valley” plantation
located in Istisu district. The owner of the farm lectures tourists on citrus gardening while showing
around; you can take an active part in fruit picking or just try and buy local oranges, lemons, mandarins,
kiwis or feijoa as well as the jams made from these fruits.You can also explore the secrets of producing
Azerbaijani local tea in “Yashil Chay”(Green Tea) farm. Lankaran is a pearl of the South, and tea grown
here is ecologically clean. Thus, the cleanliness of air and water in Lankaran, the lack of heavy metals in
the soil are the main reason why this tea is so tasty and popular. Here guests will be acquainted
with different sorts and tastes of tea grown in this beautiful area.
Drive from Baku to Lankaran region, takes about 2 – 2,5 hours. 248 km approximately.

Location:

Lankaran is a city in Azerbaijan, on the coast of the Caspian Sea, 280km from Baku. Citrus Valley located
in İstisu village, which is about 10km from centre of city of Lankaran. You can go there by bus and car.

“Citrus Valley” complex provides services such as tasting of preserves and pickles, dishes of local
cuisine, art masterclasses (making flowers from candles, stone painting, etc.), cooking masterclasses,
open-air cinema, hiking to the nearest mountain. The customer can buy products produced by the

Services and facilities:

The facility has facilities/equipment to cook and serve 30-50 guests. It houses a small workshop building
including a reception centre, dining area and storage/pickling area.There are 6 beds, 1 living room and
toilet. Visitors can take part in fruit picking and sorting, orchard maintenance activities (tree pruning,
planting, cleaning, etc.), chicken feeding, bathing in natural hot water baths, horse riding, and hiking.
The area has lakes and streams to explore, a nearby mountain with easy hiking trails, hot springs, rivers,
and a forest of rare trees. Guests visiting the farm are equipped by the farm owner with the necessary
equipment for picnicking. In addition, guests are allowed to pick fruit from the fruit trees on the farm.

Characteristics

Citrus valley has territory of 15 hectars. The territory of the enterprise is bordered on two sides by a lake
and a stream. Various trees are cultivated in the area in a traditional way, hundreds of chickens are kept
and agricultural products are processed in a traditional way. There are 250 plums, 100 cherries, 2700
kiwis, 5000 feijoa trees, 300 lemons, 50 oranges, 400 mandarin trees, 7 bee houses and 100 chickens.

Market:

Potential market includes domestic and international markets. There is huge potential market for our
products in Russia, Georgia, Kazakstan. Domestic products especially demand from Baku is high as well.

Yearly approximately 2-3millions tourists visit Azerbaijan. Lots of them visits regions and southern region
is one of the main destinations.

In future we can increase our visitors by proper marketing strategies and also by alignments with tourist
agencies.

Commercial viability:

There is a lot of potential to build facilities at the Citrus Valley, including lodging, a café/bar/restaurant,
a gift store, and function rooms for weddings, special events, team retreats, etc. The Citrus Valley have a
beautiful backdrop of mountains.

Sustainability:

The city is clean and waste is properly managed. Social and environmental issues aren’t observed.There
is also wind energy stations in region.
