Ans. Unemployment Allowance equal to 50% of wage for a maximum period of upto two years.
Medical care for self and family from ESI Hospitals during the period IP receives unemployment
allowance. Vocational Training provided for upgrading skills. Expenditure on fees, travelling
allowance borne by ESIC.
Ans. The Act provides for payment of gratuity at the rate of 15 days wages for each completed
year of service subject to a maximum of Rs.10 lakhs. In the case o seasonal establishment, gratuity
is payable at the rate of seven days wages for each season.
Ans. Under this scheme, every employee is required to make a contribution towards the
provident fund at the rate of 12% of the Basic Wages, Dearness Allowance and cash value of food
concession.
4. Salient features of Child and Adolescent (Prohibition and Rehabilitation) Act 1986?
Ans. This Act prohibits the employment of any person who has not completed his fourteenth
year of age in occupations and processes enlisted in Part A and B of the Schedule of the Act.
Ans. The Factories Act, 1948 has been promulgated primarily to provide safety measures and
to promote the health and welfare of the workers employed in factories. The object thus brings
this Act, within the competence of the Central Legislature to enact.
