Final week of school before winter break!

School will be closed beginning end of day on December 16th and classes resume again on
Tuesday, January 3rd

Thank you to the second grade

students, teachers, and especially
Mrs. Papanek for a wonderful
holiday performance last week!
the students did amazing!

Grading News: First Semester ends December 16th. Our gradebooks are NOT like secondary schools and “restart”
for the second semester. In elementary, the first semester CONTINUES to be averaged into the new grades for
second semester. It’s a cumulative format in CCSD. In other words, there is no “blank slate” for elementary
students beginning second semester. Report cards, certificates, and dog
tags will come home in an envelope on 1/09/23. You can always check
your child’s grades in IC for final totals.

Congratulations Cox Cubs of the Week: Congratulations to the

following students for being named as the “Cox Cubs of the Week” for
awesome behavior in their classes for the past week: Sienna Tarris,
Dominick Wheaton, Ja’Kahi Finner, Rowan Simen, Justin Constantin,
Amina Sekondo, Ryleigh Bitterman, Taysom Powell,
Camila Padilla-Ortiz, Hugo rueda, Thea Pack, Braylon Terry,
Paisley Yaros, and Kaylani Wright-Patterson.

The Golden Trashcan Award Goes To… Congratulations

to the following classes for keeping their rooms super spotless for the past week: Mrs. Brown’s
Kindergarteners, Mrs. Klainer’s First Graders, Mrs. Freiburger’s Second Graders, Mrs. Fortin’s Third
Graders, Mrs. Pisano’s Fourth Graders, and Mrs. Rurka’s Fifth Graders! Great Job!

DMC PARENTS: CCSD Parent/Guardian Survey

Parents/Guardians are encouraged to submit their 2022–2023 Districtwide Parent/Guardian Survey online using a
computer, laptop, or other mobile device at https://www.ccsd.net/survey. Any parent/guardian with children in the
school is eligible to take the survey. Our school earns state rating points for parents completing this survey, please
take time to complete it by December 16th. It really helps our school.

Parent Technology Warning (final posting): Parents, we have been “catching” many students who are
demonstrating academic dishonesty with their AR points. Through the investigations, we have found that on “Tick
Tock” it shows videos of AR book test answers. There are specific ways to prove that students are being dishonest
with their AR tests regardless of whether the students take responsibility for their dishonest actions. Please let your
students know, as we have also, that any student caught cheating on their AR test points will be stripped of ALL AR
points from the beginning of the year up to the day of the discovered dishonesty.

Important Parent Information (final posting): Parents, if you are currently attending our school on a zone variance
(or what is now called a Choice of School Assignment) we have been sent a directive that any student(s) who are on a
zone variance and for the first semester have missed 10 or more days (excused OR unexcused) absences will be placed
on a COSA Probation. This also includes if a student on a zone variance has 10 or more tardies. This will be tracked
for each semester and could result in a student being withdrawn from this school and must be enrolled in their zoned
home school.
