2. In relation to the word of your choice, provide products/services that will cater to each generation’s
tourist needs such as the kinds of tourist activity, types of accommodation, amenities, and service
procedures.

Baby Boomers- GOLD


I believe that time is gold, and these folks, after working for several years, are finally
enjoying their (remaining) time on earth, kidding. Aside from that, their unique travel
behaviors and impressive buying power make the “Gold” as they are willing to pay for the
services that meet their expectations. Because of that, baby boomers have generated sizeable
interest from hoteliers worldwide, those who are eager to tap into their interests and earn the
loyalty of this generational group.  Baby boomers, although open to new technology, tend to
prefer in-person communication and are less receptive to AI-powered robots. Baby boomers
are also notably interested in luxury travel; many are prone to booking luxury services,
including upgraded tour and activity packages. I suggest that luxury cruises are perfect for
them as it offers a wide variety of activities and services.
Generation X- DOUBTFUL
Generation X tends to have the most buying power and financial freedom of any generation
right now. Yet, they are skeptical, doubtful, and need assurance- hence the term “DOUBTFUL”
for this generation. They like to know the services and details of their tour before transacting;
they also worry about their families' safety as most Generation X are family people, thus
focusing more on family-oriented travel or relaxation trips that come with a few more
amenities. Hotels, B&B, or apartments are the perfect type of accommodation for these
people. It caters to a larger number of travelers, especially families, they like to use the kids'
playground of hotels to entertain their children. They prefer to transact through online because
it is faster and more convenient. This generation prefers activities such as museum tours, water
activities, staycation, etc.
Generation Y- SOCIAL
This generation is also called as “Millennials”, they are described as the generation that
is increasingly familiar with digital and electronic technology. Generation Y relies most on the
information offered by tour operators, they also try to avoid the masses and looks for unique
travel opportunities. This generation is considered to look at the world through a global lens
and show openness to new experiences. Generation Y travelers enjoy personal and social
connectivity and seek novel, rich, and fun experiences, which makes hiking, camping, or road
trips perfect for these people. Because of Generation Y's travel behavior that is driven by
curiosity, these travelers have positive attitudes to meet new people and have strong
awareness about travel opportunities, most of them travel in groups. They prefer hostels or
hotels, depending on their budget. They are also interested in using services and products
associated with their lifestyle as they use the internet to book their purchases or transactions
because of its convenience.
