Instruction: The teacher divides the class into four groups. Teacher shows emojis, symbols letters or
numbers that are combined using the plus (+) symbol. The groups guess what are the words and read
those aloud.

Instruction: the teacher divides the class into ten groups . The teacher gives students a paper with
pasage written. Things you find and circle the following words asked in the passage as quickly as
possible.

B. ANALYSIS

 How did you find those words in passages?


 Do you have to read all the passages? Why or why not?

C. ABSTRACTION

Reading Skills and Strategies

1. Skimming - the process of rapid glancing through a text.

2. Scanning - looking for specific information without necessarily reading everything in the text.
3. Detailed reading- combined with skimming and scanning that increase the level of students
understanding of the text.

4. Getting the main idea - it is done after identifying the topic or selection or article. It serves as the
controlling idea of the whole composition.

5. Making inferences- it is done when the information gathered from what they have read a combined
with their experiences and prior knowledge to create new meaning or conclusion.

6. Assessing the writer's purpose- to identify the reason/s why do writer wrote a particular article.

7. Recognizing facts from opinion - train readers to establish stronger and more convincing stand or
position on any issue.

8. Drawing conclusions- it is done after reading. To evaluate data or details to make a significant
judgement.

D. APPLICATION (Play a Role)

Instruction: Teacher divides the class into five groups . Students will play and show when or how they
could apply those skills and strategies.
