National Parks Development Committee (NPDC) On January 14, 1963, the National Parks Development Committee was formed as an Executive Committee to oversee the development of the Quezon Memorial, Luneta, and other national parks. Later, it was renamed the NPDC. The NPDC has remained under the Office of the President, despite an attempt to transfer it to the DENR's Bureau of Forest Development. National Historical Institute (NHI) Presidential Decree No. 260, issued August 1, 1973, designated specific sites. churches, and locations as national shrines, monuments, and/or landmarks, and entrusted their protection, restoration, and/or rebuilding to the NHI in conjunction with the DOT. As a result, the NHI now has the authority to designate historical and cultural places and structures as national shrines, monuments, and/or landmarks. The NHI is still the most important government organization when it comes to history and culture today. It continues to develop programs and initiatives aimed at increasing public awareness of history, teaching Filipinos about historical lessons, and honoring the legacy of our famous heroes. Apart from honoring historical events and figures, conducting research, and publishing scholarly works, the Institute also maintains historical sites around the country and is actively involved in the preservation of these sites, as well as the relics and artifacts discovered there. It operates a conservation center staffed by professionals who are well-versed in the field, as well as Providing trainin: and technical support to both the public and commercial sectors. a National Center for Culture and Arts (NCCA) Republic Act 7356 has been enacted in order to create the mandate of the National Center for Culture and Arts. Its functions are as follows: * Formulate policies for the development of culture and arts; «To coordinate and implement the overall policies and program of attached agencies on the development of culture and arts as stated under Executive Order No. 80; Administer the National Endowment Fund for Culture and the Arts; Encourage artistic creation within a climate of artistic freedom; Develop and promote the Filipino national culture and arts; and Preserve Filipino cultural heritage. The Philippine Convention & Visitors Corporation (PCVC) The Philippine Convention & Visitors Company (PCVC) is a non-stock, non-profit government corporation entrusted with promoting the Philippines as an ideal tourist, convention, and incentive travel destination. It is part of the Department of Tourism (DOT). Its Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) The Philippine International Convention Center is managed and administered by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (previously the Central Bank of the Philippines) under Presidential Decree No. 520, which was issued on July 23, 1974. The NEDA was established with the purpose of supporting the country's economic and social growth and stability. In carrying out its duties and powers, the NEDA may consult with any private individual or representative of the private sector for any opinions or advice that may be relevant to any subject under its consideration. Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) PAGCOR is a government-owned and regulated business established by Presidential Decree No. 1869 signed by President Ferdinand Marcos on July 11, 1983. The following are key provisions of the enabling legislation: Section 1. Declaration of Policy. It is hereby declared to be the policy of the State to centralize and integrate all games of chance not heretofore authorized by existing franchises or permitted by law in order to attain the following objectives: b). To establish and operate clubs and casinos, for amusement and recreation, including sports, gaming pools (basketball, football, lotteries, etc.) and such other forms of amusement and recreation including games of chance, which may be allowed by law within the territorial jurisdiction of the Philippines and which will: x x x (3) minimize, if not totally eradicate, the evils, malpractices and corruptions that are normally prevalent in the conduct and operation of gambling clubs and casinos without direct government involvement. Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) The Department of Environment and Natural Resources is mandated under Section 4 of Executive Order 192 to be the primary government agency responsible for the conservation, management, development, and proper use of the country’s environment and natural resources, including those in reservations, watershed areas, and public domain lands, as well as the licensing, utilization, and regulation of all natural resources as may be provided by law in order to economize. National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) The country's autonomous economic development and planning organization is the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA). The President serves as Chairman of the NEDA Board, with the Secretary of Socioeconomic Planning, who is also the Director-General of NEDA, serving as Vice-Chairman. The NEDA Board includes all cabinet members as well as the Governor of the Central Bank. The NEDA was established with the purpose of supporting the country’s economic and social growth and stability.
