From Authorship to Anonymity : The Dark side of Synthetic Data

Dr Shiva Satish Sharda

It is artificially generated and does not correspond to any particular individuals in the actual
world. Synthetic data provides a potentially revolutionary answer; it can imitate the
properties and signal of genuine genomic datasets while avoiding data privacy concerns.

When the output generated by neural network will be anonymous synthetic data; the rights
of authors in feeding input dataset will be pushed in the darkness of anonymity.

This problem needs to be analysed as there is no formal research being carried out in this
sphere.

Research Points (list not exhaustive)

 Fair use of data set/bid data

 Licensing of data for feeding neural networks to generate synthetic data
 Intermediaries as owners/licensees of data
 Ownership of data generated by IOT
