How to create Baby Angel Wings for Newborn (2 sizes)

This Pattern is a Modification for the ‘Mother nursing her Newborn’ Pattern: available
for purchase from Etsy and Ravelry

Just a little WARNING: These wings are extremely small and fiddly to make. But they are
well worth the effort.

MATERIALS
DMC Crochet Thread 2ply (single thread)
or you can use

DMC stranded cotton (3 threads used together)


1.5 mm crochet hook for both sizes of Baby
Wings.
Wing Span: 7cm
Darning needle.

Baby Angel Wings (wing span 7cm) Row 2-5

The instruction photos used in this tutorial are


made from a larger yarn.
You will need to make 2 wings.
Start with Chain 5 Row 6

Row 1: sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, sc in


the next 3 ch, ch 1, turn your work (4sts, 1ch)
Row 2-5: *4sc, ch1, turn* x 4 times (4sts, 1ch)
Row 6: 4sc, then continue down the side of the
piece, making 5sc evenly spaced down the Row 7
rows, then ch5, turn (9sts, 5 ch)
Row 7: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 7sts,
inc, sc4, ch1, turn (14sts, 1ch)

Row 8: sc2tog, sc in next 12 sts, ch3, turn (13sts, 3 ch)
Row 9: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 12 sts, sc2tog, ch1, turn (14sts, 1ch)
Row 10: sc14, ch3, turn (14sts, 3ch)
Row 11(part A): 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in next 13sts, sc2tog (15sts)
DO NOT TURN YOUR WORK FOR THE NEXT STEP
Row 11(part B): 2sc into the same st as the last sc, sc10 evenly along the top of
wing (12sts) FASTEN OFF. REPEAT FOR SECOND WING.

Baby Angel Wings (wing span 5.5cm) You will need to make 2 wings.
Start with Chain 5
Row 1: sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, sc in the next 3 ch, ch 1, turn your work (4sts, 1ch)
Row 2-3: *4sc, ch1, turn* x 2 times (4sts, 1ch)
Row 4: 4sc, then continue down the side of the piece, making 3sc evenly spaced down the
rows, then ch5, turn (7sts, 5 ch)
Row 5: 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in next 6sts, inc, sc3, ch1, turn (12sts, 1ch)
Row 6: sc2tog, 1sc in next 10sts, ch3, turn (11sts, 3 ch)
Row 7(Part A): 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in next 10sts, *sc2tog (12sts)
DO NOT TURN YOUR WORK FOR THE NEXT STEP
Row 7(Part B): 2sc into the same stitch as the last stitch from Part B *then continue evenly
down the side of the piece with 6sc (8sts) FASTEN OFF
REPEAT FOR SECOND WING

Sew the wings together across the back of the


wings using the yarn that is still attached to the
wings. Sewing through the back loops only. I
found that they only needed joining across 3-4
stitches. Sew the wings onto the baby.
