INTRODUCTION:

I am discussing about foodpanda application and software development process. Foodpanda works
like 2-dimentional method. Firstone for restaurants and second one for customers. I discuss only
customer application.

For Restaurant: First of all restaurant owner registerd herself on foodpanda platform and pay
regestration fee then list up menu item on food panda. Company ask you to pay 30% commision
charges on every order for using their platform. Here the my restaurant portal platform picture
where we can manage our restaurant on foodpanda and change or add items in our menu.

For Customer: Foodpanda offer customers to create user account on foodpanda app and ask users
to allow location after allowing location he can choose their desired restaurant and cusine which
are available on his location.
Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) of foodpanda app & website
SDLC describes the sequence of phases and steps to develop a software. SDLC are the entire life-
time of any software from begning to ending. Its aim to build a quality software.

Planning of software:
Foodpanda company plans to make a software that can used to order food from different
restaurants that are live on foodpanda. It is a location based application. It is dual in nature works
on website and mobile application. In this application main moldules are create account, manage
account, navigate menu, create order, modify order, track order, payment details, contact to
delivery rider, get unique order number along with restaurant id. Also provide help center. And
which language is used for coding. Also disscus about cost and expenses.
Define Requirements:
In this stage requirement engineer collect all the requirements and make a software requirement
specification (SRS) docunment. SRS contains defination of your project and detailed requirements.
Requriements are functional and non functional. Here the stakeholder’s tell what they want, what
does his system do, and how it looks like. All data are collected here it’s the main stage if you
didn’t collect all requirements properly then in development stage developers face many issues
some are resolveable and some bugs are not fixable. So, collect proper requirements through
interviews, serveys and questionares.
Design and prototyping:
In this stage developer can make a architecture of software, and where our software runs foodpanda
applications runs on andorid, windows, mac, and apple. They use UI UX design and GUI. The
foodpanda developers use multilanguages to design and develop an application which are PHP,
HTML, JAVASCRIPT and use MYSQL for making a database to store data in a database. Make
a prototype (dummy model) of software and send to the stakeholder. Prototype is also a part of
design. Stakeholder use this prototype and observe it carefully and give feedback which helps in
improvement of application.
Software Development:
This is the actual developing software stage. In this we can code full program and design
foodpanda application. Foodpanda application development is very large project it contains many
features so the developers team complete this in parts and check every part and make sure that
there is no bugs and errors if bugs found they remove them. After develop a software developers
handover this software to the testing team.
Testing:
This is testing phase and software are tested by testing team through different processes. Errors
are fixes here by testing team and they make sure that the user cannot face these errors. This is
most critical phase if testing team found large bug that can’t be remove easily their’s very huge
problem and the possibilty to make the software again.
Deployment:
In this phase developer live the application for users they deploy them. The foodpanda deployment
phase is very easy. It is free to download and avaliable on playstore and we also download
foodpanda apk from google.
Operations and maintenance:
This is the last phase of SDLC. The developers finalize everything. Some issues occurs in this
phase which are not detect in testing phase user can discovers these errors and bugs by using
application.The application is used by users and they use them and give a feedback the feedback
is positive and also negative. The company check the negative feedback and find the customer
issues and the developers of the application resolve them, fix bugs and give updates time to time
on playstore. The issues occurs in this phase are not detect in testing phase user discovers these
errors and bugs.
Which unique feature become competative advantage for foodpanda
application
• First of all its theme color which is different and attractive. It has best design than others and
the restaurants and cusines are well catagorized. Shops are in shop category homechefs are in
homechef category and other restaturants are in restaurant category. And it is also categorized
by items BBQ restaturants are in BBQ section and Chinese food restaurants are in chinese
section, etc. They provide pick-up service.
• The unique and main thing is pandapro feature that can differ foodpanda from other food
applications. Pandapro is a membership card that customer can buy and avail many discounts.

• Another feature is that we can order groceries from foodpanda. That feature also give
foodpanda competative advantage. Most important thing is you can order medicine from here
medical stores are also registered on foodpanda.
• We can track our order easily on foodpanda application. Foodpanda company provides every
steps details like order prepration, rider pick-up your order, rider is on the way, and last step
rider is on your door step. You can chat with your rider to track your order and also give them
delivery details. Foodpanda company also give notifications of these order tracking process.

• Foodpanda helpcenter team provide superb services no one can beat foodpanda helpcenter
team services.
• Another feature is cashback feature after cancellation of order due to foodpanda mistake or
restaurants mistake foodpanda company gives you cashback service or they give you
compensation voucher.
Modification or breakthrough
• As an software engineer I suggest modification that user can book an outdoor table service on
his desired restaurnat from my food app. Because foodpanda only provides delivery and pickup
option.
• I suggest customize order feature in my app that are not available in foodpanda application.
• I propose an idea that user can book an event like birthday, wedding aniversary, party on
restaurant from my food application. This idea is not implement on foodpanda because of this
user can leave foodpanda move to my food application.
• Another suggestion is that foodpanda keeping in mind the health of the user design their menu
e.g for diabetic patient user create sugarless food section and for BP patients create food
section which contains less salt.
• I suggest the foodpanda company also provides direct messages chat between restaurants and
customers because sometime restaurant owner face issue about any menu item and the issue is
resolve with the help of foodpanda helpcenter but I want restaurant owner personally
colaborate with customer and customer also resolve her issue about any item with restaurant.
Foodpanda use third party relations between restaurants and customers restaurant give food to
the rider and customer take food from rider and as an developer I want to remove this relation.
• The another modification is to guide the proper situation. The users facing a issue that the
company closed foodpanda restaurants due to wheather or internet issue and they provides a
message on the foodpanda app we are not in your area try another location. That is very
annoying they did’nt guide proper users. If I modify the foodpanda app by adding this proper
guidance feature.

• I propose a modification that foodpanda or my food app can introduce a new product line
feature which is foodpanda change menu after week or fixed different menu on every week
day or make special daily and weekly discount meals and add discounts on that deals. Due to
this more customers order food.
