This document is Communications Manager Tasks.


It is part of the supporting assessment resources for Assessment Task 3 of BSBWOR501.

Communications Manager

The Communications Manager’s working hours are from 9 am to 5 pm with a 30-minute lunch
break.

Their travel time to work each day is 30 minutes by train.

Include at least 2 x 2-hour slots during your week to catch up on jobs not completed.

Priorities for the following tasks are: U – Urgent


M – Medium priority
R – Regular activity
L – Lower priority

Typical tasks for a week could include:


● Respond to a media enquiry from a local paper about support of a community project (U)
● Analyse media data to determine effectiveness of a recent TV campaign and write a
report for senior managers (M)
● Conduct weekly staff meeting and write up outcomes to send to team members in an
email (R)
● Conduct communications officer performance review (R)
● Meet with events coordinator to discuss upcoming event (M)
● Provide content for regular tweets (R)
● Prepare media release for local community project (U)
● Review financial news for news of interest (R)
● Prepare monthly staff newsletter (L)
● Analyse social media accounts to see what the community is saying about us (R)
● Review communications budget to see if we are on track (L)
● Respond to emails (R)
● Interview internal staff member interested in transferring to communications department
(L)
● Branch presentation about branding (U)
● Meeting with marketing manager to plan events for the year (M)
● Prepare schedule of events based on meeting (M)
