SPELLING RULES
We use the Present Perfect to talk about our experiences before now.
We use have/has + past participle.
Regular past participles end in -ed or -d: ex travel - travelled
Many past participles are irregular: ex meet - met
We often use the present perfect with already, ever, never, just, for, since, yet:
- Ever – in questions to say «in your life»
- Never – in statements to say «not ever in life»
- Just – to say that something happened a very short time ago
- Already – in affirmative sentences to say that something happened before now,
often sooner than we expected
- Yet – at the end of questions or negative sentences to ask or talk about time
until now when we expect that something might happen in the future
- Since – to say when the action or situation started
- For – with an amount of time, such as the number of hours, months, years, etc
