Reaction Paper (Social Media as an Instrument of Change)

Christian Angel A. Gomez

STEM 12-Tesla

For the Arabs who faced an oppressive government, social media was a catalyst for
change. It became the medium through which they communicated their desire for protest and
freedom. The internet and other platforms have been used by some people to help others change
their perspectives into something good and positive. Facebook has been used as a social tool by
the people of Arab countries; it helps them to raise their voice through media and provides them
with a means of connecting with others that they never had before. The outcome of the identified
media was positive because it provided many people with numerous opportunities and opened
many social doors for people to effect change. It also enables them to raise their living standards.
People learned the power of media, which can be a way to bring about change in our own nation.
