RESEARCH PAPER

CRITERIA OF ASSESSMENT

The criteria used in assessing the Paper and the weighting of each are as follows:

1 The logic, coherence, and cogency of the manner in which the 10
arguments of the Paper are presented.
2 The theoretical underpinnings of the Paper, including any 15
assumptions adopted, are fully elucidated with relevance to the
specific topic studied.
3 The research problem is fully articulated to the extent that its 10
complexities and impacts are clearly defined. The scope of
research necessary to elucidate the problem is identified.
4 The research methodology employed is described to the extent 15
that the reader can grasp very clearly the nature, approach, and
limitations if any, of the chosen methodology, its relevance to
the research problem, and its suitability to produce logical
findings and rational results.
5 The research findings are presented in the Paper in a logical, 15
cogent, and coherent manner that exhaust the limits of the
research problem and methodology, and indicate necessary or
required further areas of investigation.
6 The findings of the Paper, any recommendations made, and the 10
conclusions drawn flow out of the theoretical underpinnings
stated, the methodology utilized, and the assumptions adopted.
7 The uniqueness of the research undertaken, its originality, and 10
contribution to the knowledge base of the College are
identified.
The research findings illuminate the specific area of study and
the relevance of the research project, and add to a specific body
of knowledge.
8 Demonstrated competence of the Paper in the use of standard 15
English Language, at least in respect of grammar, punctuation,
spelling, style, and clarity of expression.
