Performance (P) and Skills (S) Criteria


Unit 005 Criteria RED, Unit 001 Criteria BLUE, Unit 002 GREEN, Unit 003 PURPLE

Criteria-P1, P2, P1, P2, P1, P2, P1- Explain how you work safely at all times during turning
operations, what legislation you are required to adhere to, including Environmental and
what behaviours you should demonstrate that the college & your company would expect in
relation to/with your job role.

P4- Explain where will you obtain the tools, material & equipment you need to complete the
Tasks. How will you ensure you have everything & that all equipment functions as it
should?

S2 (2.1), S7 (7.2)- What material type & forms (i.e square, bar etc) are the parts made from
and how have you checked?

P3, S1(1.1), S1(1.2), S1(1.1,1.2,1.3), S4(4.1,4.2,4.3) - Under COSHH, PPE, Control of Vibration
at Work & other Safety Legislation, what precautions are you taking before, during and
after turning operations? Where is this information found?

S1 (1.3,1.4,1.5), S4(4.1) What safety checks are you performing in the area of activity, on
equipment used & what action would you take in the event of finding an issue, and how are
you checking measuring equipment is calibrated and in date?
P5 What actions are you taking to ensure that the work area is prepared for the engineering
activity?

Grinding a Twist Drill

REINSTATEMENT & CLEAN UP OF WORK AREA
Criteria- P9, S1 (1.6) S1(1.4) P7, S5(5.1-5.5) - Explain the process of cleaning down the
working area after completion of ALL hand fitting operations.
Detail the processes involved with a full clean up of your work area. Discuss machinery
clean up and isolation, completing & returning all tooling, equipment & paperwork to their
correct storage area, and swarf clean up and placement into suitable bins. (include
coolant/floor clean-up where necessary). Identifying damaged tooling/equipment
