Good copy of CAPSTONE PROPOSAL

Name of student: Chance Bain

Date: 12/12/22
Teacher: Mrs. Lacroix
Capstone strand I have chosen is Project Capstone
Proposed title for my project: Creating a Video Game

What is your inquiry question that interests you for further research? It should be a question that
connects with a purpose, passion or personalized area of interest for you. This is a question that
you cannot just google an answer for. Please see examples from your Capstone booklet.

My inquiry question is:

What type of video game help people destress?

Rationale/context: Detail your reasons for choosing this inquiry question. Explain WHY you are
choosing to investigate this topic as a major area of focus. How does this area of inquiry
connect to your passion(s), purpose? Why is it of personal interest to you?

I chose this type of inquiry question because the game I would like to make should help
people after stressful day or just a hard day destress. I also am curious to what type of game
helps people destress overall. This area connects to me because I use video games as a way
to destress myself, especially after a hard day too. This is a personal interest to me because I
have always wanted to make my own video game but never really had anything to push me to
do it before this project.

Background: What background knowledge/connections/prior learning do you have in this

area of inquiry?

I have some knowledge in coding as to make video games form school. I also have prior
knowledge to what makes a game as I have the hobby of play video games.

Career connections: What is your intended career area at this point in time? What
connections does this inquiry question have to your life, academic and/ or career goals?

The career I am currently interested in right now is a video game designer. When I play video
games I tend to relax more and basically destress from the stresses of that day. This
connects to my career goals because I want to be able to make game that people will enjoy
and that relaxes as well as destress them.
Interdisciplinary and core competencies connections: What subject areas and core
competencies will be connected with your project? Outline and explain the connections.

Personal Awareness & Responsibility – I have an understanding that learning takes

patience and time.
I know I won’t know everything right out of the box when starting my Capstone game but with
researching and learning new things through people, overtime I will use that knowledge to
make something I'll be proud of.

Social Responsibility – I can identify and appreciate different perspectives.

When creating my game I can get feedback from friends and family and appreciate them and
their perspectives, and even use the feedback to make my project even better.

Critical Thinking – I can assess my progress.

I can look back at the start of me working on my game and see how far it's come and where it
is now, all the things I've learned working on it.

Creative Thinking – I can take my ideas evaluate, develop, and refine them.
I can use all of my idea’s I have for my Capstone game and add them to the game, and refine
them depending on what I want my game to look like.

Communication – I can reflect on the processes of learning.

Through all the research and new skills I will learn while working on this Capstone game, I
can be able to look back at it all and maybe even use it in the future.

Personal & Cultural Identity – I understand how to use my Strengths and abilities to my
advantage.
I can use my knowledge I have already as well as the things I know I’m good at to my
advantage to creating a game.

Capstone Presentation medium: select one or more project mediums you wish to use to
present your project. Outline and give details about how you will present your project once
completed. You may use a combination of mediums.

o Electronic portfolio: Prezi or PPT

o Physical portfolio
o Website
o iMovie presentation
o YouTube channel

I will use a power point to document my progress and development for each day I have
worked on it, I will bring in a laptop to show off the game and how it turned out.
Description of my Capstone project. Specific Project Details of the Capstone Project: what
will you research, create, study, produce, solve, investigate? What product will be produced
at the end of this project for evaluation. Write a one-page description outlining your
proposal.

For my Capstone game I will have to research a lot of things as it's my first time doing all of
this, the things I'll have to research are overall coding, how to use the engine I choose, and
game design. I will create the game and use the things I have learned and seeing if what fits
and what doesn't I am hoping by the end of this project to have a fully playable game. The
issues I will face will be the stuff I don't know yet like the coding, or the engine but I will solve
these issues that come up by learning new skills or through the knowledge I have. The things
I’ll have to investigate are the problems I get that I can't figure out, and a way I can figure
them out is by talking to people who do this as a living or people who are very knowledgeable.
By the end like I said before I hope to have a fully playable game that I can be proud of.

Resources/ Technology/Skills: Make an assessment of the resources, technology and

skills you will need to be able to complete this project. What is your plan to be able to
access/learn all of the resources necessary to achieve completion of this project? Detail
your plans.

The Resources and technology I will need are my computer and software's that will help me in
making the game. I will use the prior knowledge I have in coding as well as what makes a
game. I already have a computer for the use of this project and the ability to research the
game engine or software's I will need in order to complete this project.

Mentors/Community Connections: What types of mentor(s)/community connections will

you need to help you complete your capstone project? How will your mentor(s) help you?
What is your plan to access the mentorship/community connections necessary for this
project?

I will be using the internet as well as some of the people my dad's knows who know things
about game programming to help me with this project, and with any obstacles I may have. I
will email or physically talk to them as needed for any guidance I need.

Project limitations: What are some project limitations and potential obstacles that you foresee
that might affect progress with your Capstone Project?

If I have any computer errors or coding issues I do not understand it could cause a problem
with the completion of my project.

Other considerations: List and detail any other related information/ considerations about
your project that you feel should be included in your project proposal.
The other considerations I will face in this project is how to make my game look good and
how to implement the things I want. I will need to find textures so my game doesn’t look bland
and boring. I will also have to research the thing I'd want to add to my game.
