Activity 1.1:

Part 1:

Direction: Read and analyze each of the following item. Write your answer on the answer sheet
provided on page.

1. Define the term family with a group of three colleagues. Compare definitions and list
similarities and differences. Develop a list of criteria for being a member of a family.

Saavedra – A family is any group of people who are closely connected by blood, such as
parents, children, uncles, aunts, and cousins. Family isn't defined or constrained by blood ties. A
family to me is simply a group of people that honestly and continuously love, support, and
support one another. A family is formed when people come together, creating strong links and
connections that bind the members together. In a more constrained sense, family refers to the
basic social group that consists of parents and their children when they are living together.

Chiong, Shiara Mae – A family, a group of usually related individuals who live together
under common household authority and especially who have reciprocal duties to each other, also
offer support and security coupled with unconditional love. There are various types of families,
the breadwinner of the family which is the father, the light of the family which is the mother and
their children.

Tamparong, Aishi B. – Family, a group of persons united by the ties of marriage, blood,
or adoption, constituting a single household and interacting with each other in their respective
social positions, usually those of spouses, parents, children, and siblings.

2. Print out a family picture and post in the activity sheet then describe your family.

Each and every one of us values and adores their family. Our hearts and souls will always
be in our home since that is where our loving family is, no matter where we go in this world or
what we may accomplish. Nothing in this world can bind people together like blood does. As the
saying goes, “Family is the best thing you could ever wish for. They are there for you during the
ups and downs and love you no matter what”. Contrary to popular opinion, we cannot pick and
select our family members like we do our friends. But I can say that I'm blessed to have a great
family. My family may not be perfect, but they are the best. My family and I may not have a lot
of money or fortune, but what we do have in abundance is the love for one another that nothing
else in the world can ever replace. My brothers and I look up to our parents as role models. They
put up a lot of efforts and sacrifices to provide us a better life. More than anything, they instilled
in us the discipline and principles of life, which even today continue to guide us in living moral
lives. My family has always been there to inspire and support me as I work to conquer all
obstacles in life and accomplish. Every member of my family plays a special and significant role
in some way. I give thanks to God that I was raised in a loving and disciplined home. My
family's principles will undoubtedly aid me in improving myself to become a better person.
