Network topologie questions

1. According to the star topology, what is the main advantage?

- It has a system that allows adding new equipment easily. Easy to prevent damage
and/or conflicts, since it does not affect other equipment if a failure occurs.
Centralization of the network.

2. What is main disadvantage of the star topology?

- If the central hub (repeater) or switch fails, the entire network stops transmitting. The cable
travels separately from the hub to each computer.

3. How many neighbours has a computer in a ring topology?

- It has two neighbours

4. Is the ring topology commonly used?

- No is so rarely used now a days

5. What is main disadvantage of the ring topology?

- Because a one-way ring topology provides only one path between any two nodes, one-way
ring networks can be disrupted by the failure of a single link. A node failure or cable break could
isolate each node connected to the ring.

6. Which is the third topology showed in the video?

- The bus topology

7. What kind of cable is used in bus topology?

- In the bus topology, all the equipment is connected to the same transmission line by means of
a cable, usually coaxial.

8. What is the main advantage of the bus topology?

- The cable length required is less than the star topology. It is easy to add or remove devices on
this network without affecting any other devices. Very cost effective compared to other
network topology like mesh and star. It is easy to understand the topology.

9. Where are located the terminators? Are they necessary?

- Terminators are located at the two ends of the central cable and are necessary to prevent the
signal from bouncing and being received by the hosts again

10. What is the main advantage of the mesh topology?

- This topology provides multiple paths to succeed in the destination and tons of redundancy.
It provides high privacy and security. Data transmission is more consistent because failure
doesn't disrupt its processes. Adding new devices won't disrupt data transmissions

11. What components can you find in an infrastructure topology? Is it limited to

a single wireless access point?

- The fundamental components of a network are the server, the terminals, the network devices
and the communication medium. In some cases, the word architecture can be used in a loose
sense to mean both the physical layout of the wiring and how the protocol views that wiring.

12. Has Ad hoc topology access points?

- In Ad hoc mode, the printer and computer communicate wirelessly and without using an
access point. First, configure the Ad hoc (SSID) settings of the computer to connect with Ad hoc
mode.

13. In wireless mesh topology, are all the access point connected by wire?

- Yes, all computers are connected each others for pass information

14. What happen if an access point in a wireless mesh topology is down?

- Self-healing: In a mesh network, if one Wi-Fi point stops working, communication is diverted
to another. Note: If the router or the main Wifi point (the one connected to the modem) loses
the connection, the whole network will lose it.
