Access to health care

Because of the Affordable Treatment Act (ACA), millions more people in the United States now

have access to health insurance, which has resulted in an increase in the number of people who

need medical care. As a consequence of this, the government is coming to depend more and

more on APNs to fulfill the ever-increasing demands placed on the nation's healthcare system by

its citizens. The issue of autonomous practice lies at the heart of the scope of practice for all

areas of advanced practice nursing (APN). It is against the law for advanced practice nurses

(APNs) in states that fall under the "Restricted" category to treat patients independently of the

patients' primary care physicians or other practitioners (Woo, Lee and Tam, 2017). As a result,

working with an APN might be challenging due to the fact that state rules often instruct APNs to

consult with medical professionals or other prescribing authorities before making any decisions

on patients' healthcare. As a result, gaining access to the services of APNs is a process that takes

a lot of time and eventually needs permission from the physicians or other healthcare

practitioners that the APN collaborates with.

In addition, "accessing healthcare services" refers to the process of acquiring healthcare services

from a provider. Even when they have access to adequate medical treatment from a number of

different providers, some people are nonetheless considered to be underinsured. However, some

people are able to take advantage of these benefits because their employers or the government

provide them with insurance coverage. Patients are considered to be underinsured when they

either are unable to pay their co-payments or often exceed the limits of their capitated coverage

(Moorhead et al., 2018). Some people have skewed perceptions of what it means to get high-

quality treatment, which may make it challenging for them to access healthcare services. Other

people do not have health insurance, and still others do not have a primary care physician.
