Chap 6: CHOOSE YOUR LANGUAGE & STORIES
The words we choose, the metaphors we use, the visual
imagery we draw on, and the stories we form with the
terms shape and the way we perceive and interpret
events that happen around us.
Diagnostic Tool: This helps us understand the process of
our research, emotions, or the nature of the problem we
face.

Creative Tool: This allows us to actively shape behaviors,

thoughts, and emotions by paying attention to the
language and stories contributing to them.

Chap 6: CHOOSE YOUR LANGUAGE & STORIES
• Humans understand the world through language.
• We can rewire our neurons in more optimal
patterns by focusing on new stories through
writing, drawing, and awareness of daily speech.

6.1: Notice Your Language
• Design, Illustrate, Visualize, Learn, Problem,
Solution.
• I have been using these words primarily to express
my thoughts.

6.4: Any Given Day
• I start with writing down the tasks for the day.
I read the problem statement, available
resources/data. I go to the library or lab as I am
more focused there. I work on the findings and then
discuss it with team members and Professors.
• I don’t talk to lot of people for the same problem as
sometime more input causes confusion.

6.6: Rewrite a Story
• Pulled Rickshaw is a human-powered rickshaw in
which a person pulls the cart with a capacity of 1 or
2 people.
• This mode of transportation is old and cheap. It’s
used for various purposes, such as travel, logistics,
and tourism. They must work long hours to earn
enough wages to get them going for their day.
• The robot pulled Rickshaw can be used as cheap
transportation and still carry the old trend.

6.8: Reflect
• I believe that our stories relate to our environment.
The words, style, and how we narrate are all
connected.
• I build stories on facts and figures, which helps
conduct research. The audience pays more
attention if your stories have more
facts/figures/stats.
